Brain Teasers – I have one for you (Which I do not have an answer for – YET)

Have a 19â€� krotek  KT1903N monitor that was working in an IGT slant top game on the casino floor. It had retrace lines, so C504 222uF 35v and C506 47uF 50v caps were replaced.

1)   Tested in shop (Works, has a good picture)


2)   When the monitor is return to the casino floor – it will not power up.

(Unable to find the machine the monitor came out of – but they are all the same?)

Note: tried in 4 different games – on 4 different banks (will not work). But works fine in the shop tester, which is the IGT 960 tester. No different then the games on the casino floor.

First thought – plug line up and or loose pin.
Pins are all good.

Used an extension cable on casino floor to insure the plugs were seated correctly.
Still don’t work.

The same set up used on the 960 tester – the monitor works fine.

Then thought – Power
Maybe the casino floor is running on low voltage – but testing the monitor on the tester.
Was able to drop the voltage down to 66volts, which at that I lost the game and monitor.

The casino floor is not that low…

Anyone seen this before? Any one have a thought of what I’m missing?

Are the molex or amp pins stretched out and not making contact I have seen this on the casino floor

Brainteaser part 2 (The End)

Now that it’s a new day –
The voltage to the monitor from the tester is 254 Volts.
The voltage to the monitor from the game is 122 Volts.


Noticed that changing the input voltage on the tester had little to no affect on the monitor voltage  (Big difference from the PE+ games)– so when I said at 66 volts I lost the monitor and game – I need to correct that, I lost the game and Video, the monitor still had power and was working.

C107 47uF reading 33.5uF

After replacing this one Cap – The monitor is working on the casino floor.
So there was a logical answer to this brainteaser.
