Validation System Error (Game King 5.3)

Ok, I'm starting a new thread around this error to see where it goes and to focus on one problem.  For those that have Game King 5.3, you would be of great help.  My game is working fine.  Long story short, I have the ticket printer enabled, a 5 cent hopper/accepts nickels and bills.  When somebody cashes out, it pays 5 dollars worth of nickels and the remainder in a ticket. 

1.  Printer, hopper, and coin in are all enabled.
2.  In order for the printer to work, I have to enable "SAS Standard Validation/Print receipts" under COM options.

So here's the problem, everything's working, but when "SAS Standard Validation/Print receipts" is enabled, the top candle light flashes slow, which per the manual indicates a tilt.  Again, everything's working and playing fine.  If I turn the jackpot reset key, there is a message that states:  "Validation System Error"

I cannot figure out for the life of me how to have this configuration, but get rid of this error and even more importantly, get the candle to stop flashing, other than to take out the light bulb. 

Game King 5.x owners, I would appreciate your insight.

Like I said before, I just have "split pay" enabled and SAS validation is not on, no candles flashing. Someone else on another board said that I can't print tickets unless SAS is enabled and the "back" system is working, well I guess we all  know where that went.....................................

Pull a few more chips out break off a few more legs  it will stop flashing, but  also see if you paper is low in pa some games flashed when paper was getting low

If I turn the jackpot reset key, there is a message that states:  "Validation System Error"

Jason, when you turn the jackpot reset key does it read "Validation System Error" or "Validation System Failure"  The reasom I'm asking is that I'm having the same issue, but mine reads "Validation System Failure"

Mike,

Yeah, my top candle is always blinking slow (indicating the Validation System Failure).  It never actually comes up unless I open the door or turn the jackpot reset key as it is a pending tilt.  Game plays fine.  If I go into "SAS Standard Validation" under COM options, and disable this setting, once I click save, the light goes off, but printing is no more as well.

Can you repro that behavior as well?

Exactly what are you disabling. Cause I don't see were I can disable SAS Standard Validation/Print receipts at this time if thats what your talking about. After you go to COM options what do you touch next?

Mike, you'll need a keychip, but go to Setup/COMM Options/Validation-Redemption.  Once you are in that menu, enable SAS Standard Validation under Validation Setting.  Hit save, and that's what starts the candle flashing.  If you go back into that same menu and disable SAS Standard Validation and hit save, you'll notice the candle will turn off.  Once enabled by the way, you should see Print Handpay Receipts enabled under Handpay Receipt Validation.

Let me know if you can repro it.

Yes I can repro the problem exactly. So I selected none. The candle doesn't flash, but I can't cash out a ticket(have to turn attendent key). Anyway I will experiment more.

Right on Mike.  I'm glad I'm not the only one then.  Appears to be specific to GK 5.3 then.  I am at a complete loss...unless there is some combination of settings that are not yet known to resolve this.

Yeah cause I  just put in my TailGate Party Game and the candle doesn't flash and the ticket printer prints fine.

Not trying to be a pain in the arse...just bumping to see if a fresh set of eyes might see this.  I have disconnected the candle cable as a workaround.  You guys think it might be because it's not connected to a casino server/network?

If you have SAS Validation Enabled the candle will blink since the machine is not connected to the casino network.  Turn it off to solve the problem.

Thanks idesign.  If deactivated, the light goes off, but printing also goes off.  Do you know of any other settings which will keep the printer functional with SAS validation turned off?

Nope, there are none.....but what good is a ticket anyway when you think about it?  It would be nice to feed it back into the machine, but it's useless.

As an FYI, the Enhanced (044) machines are all set up so you can't print tickets unless you enable SAS Validation which will turn on the candle.  So if you plan on upgrading any of your machines to the 044 platform, unlike most of the 3902 games, all ticket printing will be with the candle lit.

If you really want the candle to summon for drinks, it wouldn't be hard to make a separate circuit to light the candle when you press the button.

Ok while I understand what idesign is saying I don't understand why the candle doesn't blink when I put in the Tailgate Party game? The setup is the same
 SAS Standard Validation is enabled just like in the GK 5.3 Game, but with Tailgate Party the candle doesn't blink and with GK 5.3 it does. Is it because the GK 5.3 is newer software? or something different?  Mike

My thinking is that if the button lights when pressed, you could either use it to power the top light after disconnecting it from it's current circuit or drive a relay that will power it from another source or make it flash from the current circuit.  I'm surprised bunker hasn't jumped in here, he loves this sort of project.

When the light flashing due to SAS Standard Validation being enabled, if the service light is pressed, nothing happens.  If I disable SAS Standard Validation, the flashing light goes away, then the service light will work, but no printer functionality.

Hey Yoeddy1 I think what Wayne is asking is does the light in the service button itself light up irregardless of what the candle is light is doing. (In my case it does.)  If so then using the same current that powers the service button light to light the top candle light that has been disconnected from it original source.
Wayne does that sound close?
