I'm kind of stumped on this one, after about 6 hours I decided to take key board in hand. I have 4   S 2000 I'm trying to install coin handling. All I get is Coin in error on all 4 of them.   I have 1 machine (S 2000) that does except coins, I have been using it as a test stand. That said all the parts and wiring looms I have been using are known GOOD. I wrote down all the key settings on the working machine, and compared them to the other machines and they are exactly the same. I even went so far as to switch the MPU board, from the working machine, didn't make any difference.  Let me be clear, all 4 machines are working machines, they just will not except coins. Drop a coin in, it goes to the hopper and gives a coin in error, open and close door  clears error.  Help Help

Try moving the comparitor and optics from the working machine to one of the others and make sure you have coin deflector plugged in. other than that check the coin denom setting on the machine

Been there and done that. Take everything out of the good machine and will not work in the other machines. I'm working with 5 comparitor brackets, 5 comparitors, 5 coin optics, and 5 wiring looms, all have been tested in the working machine and all are GOOD. The Green light does come on on the Comp. and it will send the coin to the hopper, that's when I get the CALL ATTENDEANT Coin In Error   Another thing even on the good machine, if I press the little white button on the coin optic board, it will NOT add a credit.
Accounting set at  .01  coin denom set at .05  multi-denom set at .05, .25, .50, and one dollar. deflector is plugged in.

The only clear I've done is with a 097  I think that's the only clear chip I have. I just took a look I have a 006 and a z clear. I've never had to use them.

I don't know if this helps you at all Buzz,
but when I press the little white button on the coin-in optics on my S2000 -
I don't get any credits onto the display meter either.  Scratch Head

I do get the coin-in error when I try the "Service Coin" button while the
door is open and the cherry switch plunger is fully pulled.
I think that's normal however - the machine is sensing an abnormal action.
I clear this error just by closing the door.

By chance is this a 504 board?  What is your hopper limit set to?  Dumb questions I know...but were heading in a direction here.

Jim the working machine is a Big Time Pay, it had a 504 board in it to start with, I switched it with a 502. The 502 works in the BTP but the 504 will not work in the other machines the rest of the boards are 502s. Hopper is set for 100

Jim I need to add something else, three of these machines have a S+ SS chip in them.  I'm using a SB001000 Base chip.

After you did your full clear and then did your key chip and went into settings, by chance would you have messed around with the "coin-less mode" settings?  Can you press the test button and work your way through the menu and get to the Key Chip settings...see what it says about coin-less mode and whether or not it is enabled or disabled.

Just for kicks and giggles, can you take the working board from the working machine that is accepting coins from the "test stand" and put it into one of the questionable machines and see if it will then accept coin.

Jim  I'm ahead of you I've already tryed that. The 504 was in the good machine, the good machine now has a 502 board and the 504 will not work in the other machines. The 502 works fine in the good machine.  Hell one of the machines in question, I didn't even want to make it coin handling, but it didn't have a SS chip in it so I gave it a try.

AT one time tonight I had a Sierra Silver machine yelling BIG TIME PAY

Buzz,
I'm enjoying the nightlife at the cottage but I believe you may need to use a different clear chip.  I guess I assumed that you already swapped all of the components since your first post said that, but did you swap the board from the working game with the set of chips intact or change out the chips?

Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne I had to switch the chips. The working machine is a 3 Reel plus a bonus reel (Big Time Pay) the troublesum machines are all 3 Reel. I now have a IVO224 clear, I can give it a try.
Last weekend I gave my Brother in Law a 3 reel and all I did to it was install a coin head, Comp bracket, optics and It was good to go. Matter of fact it went all the way to FT. Smith, Arkansas

224 is best choice for a 504 followed by a 45 key.

I did a 224 clear and 45 key It didn't help

Key Chip The key chip is required to change some game options, such as the denomination. The
key chip is a 27C4002 or a 27C240 device and is labeled with the key chip number
KEY00031.
Clear Chip This IGT utility program enables the operator to clear the game memory. Use
IVC00223 (or replacement) to clear RAM or use IVC00224 (or replacement) to clear
RAM and EEPROM.

Wayne   I have a Key 17, 31, and a 45.   Clear keys I have a 097 and a 224   Every one seems to do the job, I do a clear with which ever one (97 or 224) in key menu I have to reset every setting, this makes me think that it cleared.  All 3 key chips will take me to key menu, this makes me think any and all of them are working.  The front display tells me to insert coin, I do and it gives coin in error, if by chance a coin doesn't go to the hopper but rejects to the tray I don't get the error.
The guide is the right size, heck I've had 5 different sets of optics in that one machine. All of them couldn't be wrong.
I'm beginning to think the Casino must have cut a wire somewhere. Looks like I can spend the day tomorrow with my handy dandy multi-meter.
