Bad rom error crc blocks tocopy

Sigma 1700 I turn on machine it goes throught the start up and reads all the files then it comes up with bad rom error crc blocks to copy  I have installed bios, boot rom, game chips from a working and same thing

I picked up two of these and both were missing the cd roms. I kept getting the same error and finally found out it was the cd rom I installed (actually,1 out of the 5 would only work) . Not sure what type it takes but it sure is picky

I think what is happening is it can't read the EPROM data into memory.
check the PLCC socket on the game EPROM u52 and make sure none
of the pins on the socket are damaged.  I would also check U51 too
since that's where a clear chip goes, and that could be easily damaged too.

Also check the two batteries! i had one of the two batteries in backwards
(duh) and i was getting a very similar error.  Then i put the battery in
correctly, and the game booted fine.
