Hi all you poker guys!
I recently bought an IGT PE+ 8051 Tester with the "In Circuit Emulator" from a fella out in California.
I need IGT Instructions #824-080-00 for the 8051 Tester modifications.
If you have a copy of this - please let me know?
Thank you for any help you can give me on this! yes

It doesn't seem like there's too many of these floating around.
I love playing with it!
Now, if I can only find an old Ceronix monitor...lol

Anyways, when I get it more presentable -
I'll put up a short video clip of it in action...it's pretty cool!

Okay,
I, uh... ahem...HAD the PE+ Poker Tester working - for awhile anyways... rotflmao
I have an unknown error now. (no monitor hooked up)  Help
I'm suspecting that it's a "coin-in time out" error or something like that
because I intentionally added 2 extra coins once I had 4 in it already.
It's a 5 coin machine I believe because whenever I put 5 coins in
through the slot, it "automatically" spins the reels.
It was working fine until I tried to see if it would take the extra coin.
I need to figure out how to clear the unseen errors.

These are the chips that are presently in it>>
Four-Of-A-Kind Poker
C36: X000203P
C37: XP000104
C47: MRO CG2242
C48: MGO CG2242
C49: MBO CG2242
C50: MXO CG2242
C18: C1A3P2X1
All dips are "OFF"

I need a couple of things...please>>>

1) Some type of compatible monitor. I hear these take Ceronix
monitors that accept the inverted video signals only.
It doesn't have to be perfect...just so I can see the graphics and cards and error codes.

2) Perhaps a manual? The one I have is schematics only -
It doesn't have anything on candles, hoppers, settings, etc. ADDED>> I got it!
I got the 821-037-02 REV.A sheet

Thank you for any help you can give me on this pretty neat older video platform! yes

Hi,

Neat looking test unit. Is there any sort of hopper emulator attached to it?

If you put an extra coin in on a standard PE+ it will try to pay it backto you after the first deal of five cards, so if no hopper that would most likely be the issue.

Perhaps a set chip may help clear the error?

I have a couple of monitors here in my machines, but unfortunley way too far away, I hope someone can help you out.

Thanks Dotster,
I agree with you on the extra coin being paid out by the hopper.
Without the monitor and being able to see what error I have -
It's very likely that there's really some sort of a "3100" "3200" type of error instead.

I have two large plugs coming out of the back that are probably for the monitor and the hopper?
Can you determine which is which from these photo's?
Any help on this would be fantastic!
I've added a short candle to the top.
Top half is flashing about 2 times per second while the
lower half is flashing like a banshee outta hell! ...lol

The bottom light is flashing like a banshee to indicate a restart/door shut, the top light is indicating the hopper is missing and it can't payout the coin. I've just simulated it on mine.

Out of those two plugs though, neither of them look like mine! Both the ones I have have only six connectors, aligned in two colums of three with flat looking pins, a bit like the spade connectors on cherry switches.

The two you have look more like the connectors on my GameKing which has about 14 wires going into it.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with the one on the right as it seems to have the same coloured wires albeit in a different layout, but this is just a guess.

Pacman1974 just posted that he has 2 PE+ slants being parted out.

I presume this means he has monitors ......

Thanks Jay!,
I saw that post by Pacman but I wasn't sure what platform he had.
I will send him a PM about those parts he may have...thanks!

Yes...I agree with your guess Dotster.
Upon closer inspection and further back into these harnesses are splices.
It's a modified harness for sure.
Using the motherboard schematics, I was able to figure some of these
wire colors out and tracing them back to the motherboard.
Apparently the left plug includes video as well as touchscreen wires while
the right plug contains both hopper and bell wires! lol

It's definitely a modified harness setup...argh!!
Now I have to cut off all the tie wraps and what's going where and from what...
I will continue this little project next week...
Thank you for your thoughts on this!

Sounds like it could get ugly!

The monitor harness on my PE+ is more like a standard molex connector, although the connectors are slightly different between the two machines, but I don't know why this would be.

If you do find someone with a machine you are going to have to overcome that hurdle as well.

Oh! that was cool!
With my BK Precision Model 2120 oscilloscope probe and looking at various scope readings -
I touched the second leg on the CD74HC573E chips at the U58 location
and the machine did a COMPLETE reset!

Bunker,

The PE and PE+'s never had touchscreens, so those wires are proably something else...

I think they intended to add touchscreen functionality until they abandoned the platform in favor of the Game King.  I've seen mention of "touchscreen" on more than one PE+ schematic drawing I've looked at.

The monitor harness on my PE+ is more like a standard molex connector, although the connectors are slightly different between the two machines, but I don't know why this would be.

Upright PE+ machines use a square molex type connector for the monitor.  Slant top and bartop drop-in machines use the black rectangular type of connector that Mark has in his picture (same type of plug as the hopper plug).

Yes Knagl,
I've even seen IGT use these black connectors on topbox candles as well as hoppers.
I have all the tools needed to switch to regular Molexes as pictured in the PE+ wiring schematics and drawings.
It won't be very difficult for me to figure which colors go to which pin location in the connectors.

To the local comedians>> Yes, the oscilloscope is a little overkill for a simple reset - but somebody hadda do it! lol

Nice Find

Thats not the official IGT  tester I am familiar with - That looks like this - http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=328.0
I think the touchscreen was implemented for the Keno games or maybe the video slot themes ? (Have not seen either here in South Africa).

There are two types of machine to monitor connectors on the 13' Uprights. As far as I could figure the change came from the PE+ non IBA and IGT PE+ IBA.
I have never seen anything but ceronix used in a PE+. It can use either the 1492 or 1493 chassis. I will the look for the relevant CPA numbers.

I 've ordered a Ceronix 1492 a member was parting out...should be in next week TZ.
I agree with you...this one looks more home-made.
However, as I play it, it does everything like the real game and the cool thing is I can
probe around various pins and components with the oscilloscope while different events are happening.
It's so easy to do with the exposed live MPU board facing me on the bench.
I'm interested in recording some of the the readings I'm getting as certain components switch between high or low.
I wish I had gotten a digital oscilloscope that I could plug into my benchtop computer -
rather than the old analog one.
However, it's still very fun to see the waves go nuts upon certain game events.
I'm really learning the different types of signals happening as they shoot out of chip legs...lol

It's not at all like the Official IGT Tester Terry was selling...
I haven't heard whether or not if Thor ever got his to work?
If I remember well, our own Joey had one as well, but couldn't get the correct harnesses?
or schematics to get it running?

something someone made out of parts from a PE+.
It looks nothing like that machine pictured on the manual.
That's pretty much why there's no manual for this! lol
