I have a Bally 5500 machine--all has been very good for two years now--all of a sudden it wants to play by itself--it will spin (3 credits) and the change light will come on with candle blinking--I accused my wife of leaving the change light on until I saw this happen for my self--my only thought could be a bad switch or possible power supply issue--no changes have been made to the machine through the test mode or settings--it still plays just fine--any clues out there?????  ttjackpot Scratch Head

It sounds like a board issue to me, but I'd check all the connections to the backplane (unplug and reseat them) first to see if the ghosts dissappear.

WoooOoooOooo.  Tongue Out

Thanks,

In your case, I blame it on the Bunkerized car remote installed under the hood. Crazy Cry Laughing Cry Laughing Cry Laughing

I would still take Wayne's advice and reseat your board and connectors. Check the connectors for oxidation or damage, too.

I remember way back in the day a member reporting that his machine was randomly cashing out in the middle of the night.  The solution was that the heat from the "cash out" bulb grew and grew overnight, causing the switch in the button to activate (I don't entirely remember how that was happening, but I recall it being due to heat from the bulb).  Just throwing that out there as an off-the-wall possibility.
