Just a heads up....you will not get the printer to work with these even though they may be in working order.  Any Bally S6000 must use 2003 mains for the printer to work outside of a validation server scenario, i.e., in a casino.  These machines require 2006 mains or newer for the bonus wheel to function properly.  So as a result you will not get the printer to work.  These are either hand pay or your install coin mechanics.  I prefer the hand pay as the jackpot / hand pay music on these are very nice.  Nice machines you have there.

Well Jim,

The one I have set up for my personal use tells me otherwise. It prints tickets on 2003 mains and works just fine. It's the blue version of these machines. Seeing how the machine was made in 2003 I don't think it has to have 2006 mains.

Monte Carlos were around before 2003 and the correct mains will work for each model.  We may have a convert here..

Jim,  bust gut laughing

I don't hate them it's just I think there are things that could be done a lot better. I am an IGT guy and everything on them is easy to understand and learn on your own. One thing I especially don't like even though it is not a big deal is the menu. Why can't the numbers be in order? Instead I got to search the whole menu to find what # I need because they are scattered. Who thought that one up? Let's make up the menu with numbers in random order to make it harder to navigate that sounds like a good idea.

I also have them with tickets working(for a long long time now) as I have mentioned to Jim at Bettor in the past, surprised he didn't remember.  Perhaps he has a different controller chip in the top board that won't work for him.

I agree 100% with your comments about Jim at Blueridge.  Jim has always been able to supply hard to find items and packs better than anyone.  Every part I've purchased from him has performed as it should, I've never had an issue.  For the money involved in selling parts, I wouldn't do it.  I give him credit for spending valueable time to help others out.

Thanks,
Wayne

That is interesting to hear, but makes since it is one of the older models that can work on the old 2003 mains.  Most of the models I had / have in are 2006 and 2007.  I did find like you that I could get the printer to "work" with 2003 mains however several other anomaly's occurred as a result like incorrect top wheel payouts and incorrect music being played.

Some of these things you would not notice unless you played it for some time...like an hour.  During several wheel spins it would pay correctly....but on others the payout amount would not be correct.  In one case I can remember on a 5-L Stars and Bars (RWB), the machine would go completely haywire even though at first it seemed fine.

bust gut laughing  LOL...I so wish I had this on tape.  I just went back and checked my log book on the one 5-Line RWB I worked on.  Here's what happened:

>>>>  Machine played as normal for about the first half hour of play, including 3 wheel spin bonuses.  Then on the 4th wheel bonus hit, after the full clear, the free spin bonus started as normal.  I hit the spin wheel button, the wheel spinned and the amount paid to the "winner paid" window was double the amount it should have been.  THEN....it went into 10 FREE SPINS of the reels below.  All hits during those free spins were added to the credit meter.  At the end of the free spins all credits won were added to the total.  Machine continued to play as normal like before.  LOL...WTF !!!

2006 mains corrected the problem but no printer of course.

Here is a chip from 2003 that is later version than what is states is required, so they must of had them prior to 2003

I'm with Jim Blue on this one....I know in his comment he is saying "hey...these Bally's are pretty damn decent after all???".  Bally 6000's having been getting a bad wrap on this site for no good reason and it's time to put an end to it.  Mainly from those that have not worked on them enough or even had one in front of them.  I have both the memory and ass of an elephant and remember clearly that it was from these same mind sets that were just over a year ago bad mouthing S2000's in favor or the S-plus machines....do you want to check post history?  The fact is these are solid machines on the inside with heavy gauge metal parts where they IGT's use plastic or thin gauge metal instead.  They are also for the most part a very well organized harness setup where the IGT's look like spaghetti inside there.  I'll grant you the menu display is nice on a S2000 that makes set up easy...but isn't that what you do on a S-plus...like on the Bally, is go through your manual and look at the code numbers for what it is telling you or what settings you want?

I have to put my  5 cents in here also.
I was alway's IGT. I didn't want any part of Bally's. I got 4 as is (not shopped) Bally's
from Jim @ Bettor Slots. That changed my mind. With the help from Jim & NLG I enjoy working on them.
THEY ARE NOT THAT BAD.

I love Bally machines - so much in fact that when it comes down to having to give up one machine, I think it will be the dotmation.  Nerd

I will split out this discussion at a later date. Considering how much attention this thread is getting, I think it is in morspeed's best interest to leave it as is for now.

Morspeed, if you would prefer to have a clean slate, let me know.

Let's not forget this is a for sale ad thread for Tommy's machines.  He has a Monte Carlo Blazing 7s Spin N' Win and a Monte Carlo Rich and Famous Spin N' Win with working ticket printers and for a very low price (makin it hard on the rest of us).  See the first bunch of posts in this thread.

On the S6000/ S2000 comparison.   The s2000 must be on a level surface as their chassis is weak and can torque quite easily.  The S6000 are much more robust and don't suffer from this condition. Reel strips on S6000 are washable, S2000 some are some aren't. Both platforms have advantages and disadvantages, both are great platforms with a multitude of themes.  nuf said.

I have to agree with Mopar on this. I will say that the doors on The 6000 machines is a way better construction then the s2000. If the S2000 is torqued a little the wrong way It won't close correctly.

And Stat we can leave it this is a good discussion for all.

Huh...... you can turn off the solenoid click. Mine don't do that.  I think is is the reel stop sound just like on the s2000 if you set it to reel stop click: solenoid it clicks when you hit max bet as well.
I have that exact game you have in my collection.

Looks like you could use a new LED board . Luckily you can pick them up cheap by posting a want to buy on here or look on ebay. You need a Mikohn 12 cell display board.
