I am so glad I found this site. Been reading for days and learned a great deal but I need to pick your brains for some info that I cannot find. I have a Bally Pro Slot machine and everything works except the bill validater. I knew this when I bought the machine. It has  DBV-145-PB2-0500-A544 from JCM. I have looked at their site and here and it seems that no one fixes or has parts for this model bill taker. The front window blinks red then stays solid red. It should turn green when ready, so I am guessing it is failing its internal tests. It will not take a bill but if you put a bill more than half way in and turn it on it will reject the bill. I am not an expert on this but from what I read the sensor that detects the bill is not working so the device never starts the motor to take the bill. I have some pictures here to show you better. My question(s) are can I buy the sensor and repair it, if so does anyone know where to get it. Does anyone know where I can get a refurbished used one. Or does anyone know what this model can be replaced with and if so what do I need to do as far as wiring and power to make it work. And I guess will it take the new color bills as well as the old ones. Thank you for any help you can offer.

I'm no expert either, but you could try cleaning the sensors, if you have not already. Take the front bezel off.  There are two screws, one on each side, that you can loosen that have a notch cut out. That will allow you to open the top and have good access to the sensors to clean.

Also check the dip switches on the bottom and make sure they are set correctly to accept bills.

I've read other messages stating that buying a DBV=200 would be the best thing to due in your case to read more current bills. However, it will not read all current bills.

Also check the JW3 jumpers 5 and 6 on the MPU.

Hi Matt, I did try to cleanreader there. the sensors and they are just about like new. I will check the jumpers but I would think those would be set correctly if it had a bill reader installed.
I heard about the DBV 200 but before I get one I wanted to know if it uses the same connections and power supply as the 145. If so I have no problem buuying one I just don't want to have to take the machine apart and replace abunch of things if I don't have to. Thanks for the advice.

the DBV200 head will be a direct replacement for the 145; just take the 145 head off of the transport and put the 200 back in it's place.  the harnessing should be the same so it's a pretty easy swap.  it's been many years since i've had a 200 in my hands and even longer for the 145 but i do recall that the 200 was a definite improvement from the 145.
i don't know if any parts are still available for the 145, shoot a few emails to some of the vendors here and you might get lucky.
