Hey Ron, is your ring in that case or did they have to come to your house to get it off your finger?  rotflmao

Those shindigs are awesome. I was fortunate enough to work some of those events for Super Bowl XXII. Our NROTC unit was hired to provide security for some of the events and the actual game itself. They had a huge Party one night at North Island Naval Air Station that took up a couple of the helicopter hangers! It was lavish, luxurios, and way over the top! They had a bunch of maniquins all over the place dressed in theme clothing, the trick was that they were not dummies, they were actual people playing the maniquins. The food was out of this world, and they had many different stations set up all over the place... I heard that the party alone cost something like $6M dollars!!!! We were doing perimeter security, and we took it upon ourself to take turns "doing rounds" inside for "interior party security!" That was not their plan, but it was ours!!! We were wearing suits, and we just went "undercover" and put our security credentials in our pockets while we did our "patrol!"

I tried to find pictures or descriptions of Pete Rozelle's Super Bowl Bash, and this was the only quote that I could find: "On Friday night, Rozelle is putting on his annual bash for about 3,000 at a North Island Naval Air Station hangar, an event where the scramble for tickets is more intense than for entry into Sunday's game." It must have been a good party since George Bush Senior, Vice President of the US at the time, was supped to attend the party!

We also did security for the big game.... We were the Yellow Jacket Event folks that you always see. I was unfortunately assigned to the game field! bawling bawling bawling Just Kidding that was an awesome assignment!!!  yes yes yes We were supposed to watch the stands and not the game, so our backs were to the game, but that did not matter as we would not have seen the game because all of the players are standing there blocking our view as they are huge!!! I decided to place myself in close proximity to the Cheerleaders! That was a much better view than the fans in the stands!  yes yes yes After the game they needed volunteers for some additional assignments, so I went for it. I was "stuck" on a detail that had to go up in the elevator to get the Redskins Owner.  On the way up in the elevator I recognized a very very senior US Senator, that was a long time family friend, we had a fun conversation and joked about what were the odds of meeting in the elevator at the Super Bowl were! He sent regards to the rest of my family, and then it was back to business. Our next task was to escort the owner down and into the locker room!

It was definately a once in a lifetime experience. Unfortunately it was before the days of cell phone cameras, let alone cell phones or small digital pocket cameras, so I could not sneak any PICS!  frying pan bawling hissy fit Neon, Thanks for posting pics as it brought back many memories!!!! K+

I must say even now I have tears in my eyes.  I am 42 and been rooting for them for at least 36 that I can remember.  I Just left a party and just got home it was a crazy mosh-pit scene--in a good way.  My team finally did it--I knew they would that is why I started this thread quite some time ago.  I have been invited to some more events -some in N.O. next week so I am trying to figure out a way to be there.  --SAINTS ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPS-----WHO-DAT------.    Thanks B.

I didn't think they could do it. (And good thing I'm not a sports bettor!)
Must be be because I'm from Michigan and have watched season after season of Detroit Lions football.  knockout knockout knockout

It was a great game with some gut-sie calls on the Saints part. Congratulations are in order!!    Dancing Party

And it was nice to see another former Big Ten quarterback take center stage along with several other Big Ten players on both sides.

It must be really ironic for Archie Manning to see this happen...
His old team wins the Superbowl but his son is on the losing team.
I thought the WHO was great! The laser lights were fantastic really!
