If the top chip is labeled correctly, then yes, it is a set026, which is used by home slot owners to set the denomination and to turn on the bill validator on an S+. This chip can set the denomination to a penny if the SP (game) chip in the machine supports it.

The bottom chip is a mystery; Jay and Ricker have already pointed you in the right direction. Peeling the sticker off won't help because the information printed on the chip will only give you the size, speed, and manufacturer of the blank EPROM.

Thanks for the help guys, I am going to see if I can find someone around here who might have a burner that could read this,
I cant see me really needing to invest in one at this point, but you never know.  Maybe as my knowledge og this new
fascinating hobby of mine grows.
Other than the 026 chip, could you please give me an idea of a good basic set of chips to own. I know that I will need a
ram clear, I do intend on changing games in the machine soon.  (that didnt take long huh?)
My next game will probably be along the lines of a RWB deluxe, a 4th of July or a Haywire Deluxe.
At one time this S+ was apparently a progressive, and I may try later to restore that option.
You said the denom could be changed to a penny?  Are there parts to convert the coin mechs to pennies or dimes?
That might be fun. yes

Per the progressive, check this out in the Submit a new file area.
CHAMII__User_Manual_990_241_38_Rev_B.pdf

Changing to a penny is not too hard.
Theoretically you should change your coin head (shiny metal thing on the outside of the slot where the coin goes).
The point of doing this is to stop coins of other sizes from being put in.
If you had the quarter sized one this is not really necessary.

If you were going to a large denomination like a dollar slot you would have to put in a bigger one to get your dollars to go through.
If you have a large one you might want to get a smaller one.

The sample coin in the coin comparitor gets changed.
If you are going from large denomination CC-33 to a small denomination cc-16 (or vise versa) then you need to change these out.

If you use a dime you need to change the spacers in your optics below the coin mech - the same for a nickle. A penny should not really need adjustment assuming you have a quarter one there now.

Finally your hopper wheel needs to be changed.

With respect to chips. If you check our Ricks FAQ - he has it documented how to read what chips are in your machines without taking out any boards or chips.
This won't help you with your SET or Clear chip but for most of the game chips you should be fine.

I would recommend you get a SP1271 and a SP731 which are the two most common game chips. You might already have one or the other. The 1271 is newer and most of the options are controlled through software rather than the dipswitches on the 731. Also the 731 will only go as low as a nickle denomination so to do your penny you need to have a 1271.
I would then recommend getting a Set90 - as many of the progressive features in the 1271 have been bumped to the Set chip. A set015 and Set026 (my standbys) are not able to program the progessive features. The set90 won't work with the older game chips like the 731.

I'm thinking when I got my SET90, it showed up on the winner paid or credits display. The olde set chip I had didn't do that.

I checked the mb and it has a SP731 chip and the reel chip is only marked 87%..
What would a SP1271 and a Set 90 , as well as a ram clr chip cost me?

The 87% reel chip, what game glass are you using? A plain Red,White, and Blue...single payline line, 3 Coin Buy a Pay?
or is it a RWB Deluxe?
There are several different versions of the RWB game, if you tell me which award glass you have,
or take a picture of it, we'll be able to tell you exactly what reel (SS) chip you have.
Another way to accurately find out is open the door, press the little white test switch 10 times and
let us know what numbers are in the "Winner Paid" and "Credits" windows.

The vendors on the home page (on top) will sell you pretty much whatever you need...won't cost you an arm and a leg... Tongue Out

The official name of your game is: "Wild Star Red, White & Blue"
"3782" is your SS chip, otherwise known as the reel prom.
"0731" is the SP chip, otherwise known as the game prom.

This should be your glass>>
2 Coin Multiplier
Wild Star Red, White & Blue (139A)
(TYPE 0)

Yep, thats the glass.  My two top awards are set at 1000, and 2500 for the big jackpot.
Are these changeable/programmable with this chipset?

Yes and no.
The SP731 is okay to use, but to get a higher %, you need a different SS reel prom.
I think SS4091 is the highest that was made for this game>>

You can't change the top awards except to add a progressive award (with a progressive meter).  The reason for the "cutouts" on the glass is so that you can have an insert with the award amount, or with a "Progressive" label (or the meter itself if you use the in-machine meter).  You can't just choose how many credits you want the award to be.

(Okay, technically you could as you could have it lock up on a handpay and not display the credits won on the LED display, and then have a sticker with whatever award you wanted, but you can't program the software yourself to tell if to pay one million credits on the jackpot.)

I was just thinking of a jackpot around 5000 credits is all.
I would like to have the payoff at around 92 to 94%

There's a list of all of the available programs for your machine at this link, including chips that are in the 93% area.  Why do you want such a "low" payback for your home machine?

Actually, besides being fun to play and work on, I intend to use it for an expensive piggy bank
to save for a trip to a real casino, or perhaps buy another slot.  I understand the payout rate in many casinos
is between 85-92%?  What is most common for home use?

I like the hardest ones I can find so that way when I go to a real casino, it seems easier. bust gut laughing

Hello!

So do you intend not to take any money out of the machine that you've put in to play until it's vacation time?

Well, the plan, tenatively at least, is put a bunch of coins in the hopper, let that grow till it hits the full switch and empty
the cash box once a month and put it in a savings account. Then when theres a chunk of change in the bank, either go
lose it at a casino, (my wife has a real knack at winning money on video poker, I wish I had her luck), or perhaps buy different machne,
maybe an S2000. I have no intention of leaving it full of cash waiting to be stolen! I've been burglarized before, and the next ones
have some nasty surprise waiting for them!
For now the job is to get it up and running at 100%, I've gots parts on the way. And I am trying to learn as
much as I can about these things.  Anybody got a really clean 3CM RWB Deluxe game kit they want to part with? I love the nudge feature.
Thats a type 5 game though correct?

Your suggestion of changing the top award to increase or decrease the % payback is mathematically correct however the payout distribution doesn't get altered.
If you compare the PAR sheets from different %% chips you will see that the paytable escentially remains the same but the number of each type of reward changes in frequency.
PAR = Paytable and Reel.

Your best bet is to put tokens in it and feed it with bills, and leave the bills inside until you take 'em to the bank (if you're worried about getting burglarized). I mostly just play the credits off, and cash out if I feel like getting my hands dirty with the tokens.

I drop whatever I have in my wallet on Sunday night into the machine and leave the bills inside the machines, and clean 'em out when I'm ready to spend them. It's surprising how fast the money grows...
