I did a complete ram clear and now I keep getting error 23, coin not sensed. I don't have a hopper or a coin comparator, just a bill validator which lights up, powers up, but when the machine starts up and I get error 23, the bill acceptor doesnt light up at all. I've Been screwing with this for 3 days! Anyone with any suggestions as to what I am missing and/or doing wrong?
The clear chips are the flip dip switch off & leave em in type.

what position are the dip switches in on DS2?  Is dip 8 on or off? The dip switch could cause this.

Do you have optics in the machine?

Thanks,
'Wayne

I checked all the dipswitch settings. All are ok. No coin optics at all. This just started after the ram  clear. Checked all the settings a dozen times. I'm at a loss...
I tried dip switch on and off.

try swapping out the dip switch package.  They just lift out like a chip. If you don't have others, then swap with ds1.  I have known these to go bad before.

The other thing would be to check for a bent pin on the connectors at the rear of the board.

Thanks,
Wayne

I neglected to mention, everything was working fine. All that happened was I did a clear to put a new game on it?

That was one of the things I did check for, bent pins on the board.

None of the dip switch settings have been changed from what they were prior to doing the ram clear.  DS1 All on except 3 and 8.

Another thing to try is do a complete clear, program all your settings ( 81= 0000, 61 =0002), if you still get an error, hold the reset buttion for 2 seconds and close the door. If after that if you still have an error, just do a partial clear, DO NOT hold down the TEST or PSEUDO buttons, this will retain the previous settings and should clear any errors. Good luck
