Title: Installed Back Lit Reels in the Vison
Post by: Foster on January 02, 2009, 07:00:09 PM
I just installed backlit reels in the Vision.

They work great even with S+ Triple Cherry SS chip.
Base 1000, Game 363, Version 11GX1

I guess it is normal for the lamps to have a dim glow.

The only thing I hate I have to trim all the backlit style reel strips.

Here are a few  :9- :9- :9- and  :151- for Jim (BlueRidgeSlots)

Yes....

Did you get much additional/noticeable "buzz" in your speakers/audio?

Not that I notice, but I do have a resister installed inline with my speakers

I also get to trim my backlit strips to fit the reels.

I guess I will be looking for Base Chips for some of themes I have
Wild Cherry 3 CM
Red,White & Blue Wild 3CM
Red, White Blue 3CM

a few others once I get the glass and determine If I have all the reel strips for a theme.

I guess you know that this combination (Base 1000, Game 363, Version 11GX1) supports 24 SS game types except tournament chips.

They are the grey backed backlit reel strips not the black backed ones.
They are about 1/16" too wide for the back lit reels.

I just did one set today. I try to take off about 1/32" as it works best for me. If I take more they are loose fitting,
especially the ends at the laps.

That's because the grey backed are not really backlit S2000 reel strips, they are S+ strips.  They should be black on the back.  Also, once you trim them forget about using them in an S+ again.

I agree with Jeff about forgetting about putting them back in the S+

... but you can try this ...

Most of the dimple effect from placing the reel strip in the S2000 backlit basket occurs at the cross member holding both sides together (unlike the S+). Trim only at the cross member area.

Actually, there is another way......... those backlit reel baskets come apart if you pull on them at the cross piece.  You can loosen them up enough so that the strips don't have to be trimmed at all.

I agree with jeff as I have done this as well as convert s-2000 non-backlit reels to back-lit-(the reels themselves).  Make sure the notches are correct for indexing on the drum/reel baskets.  Thanks B.

I tried the loosening baskets as you suggested, it works!
I had to remove some plastic welds.
Took me a few minutes for each reel.

Thanks Idesign for the tips!  :3-  I only have one S+ left so I always run my modified strips on my Vision's or S-2000's with backlit reels.
