Title: Slow EPROMS work in a V7000 Post by: StatFreak on March 01, 2009, 09:55:53 AM One of the games in my Gamemaker had a damaged pin and I wanted to make a copy to replace it before losing it altogether.
Unfortunately, the only 27c512's that I had were -20, or 200ns. That's about as slow as they get! Well, I figured that I had nothing to lose, so I burned the replacement anyway -- and it worked fine! I also made a backup of my clear chip using the same slow EPROMs and it worked as well. I just thought I'd pass this on. It might save someone from buying a new set of fast EPROMs if they already have older ones and want to use them in a GM. There is a sometimes noticeable delay of fractions of a second.

There is a sometimes noticeable delay of fractions of a second. I have noticed slight pauses after the game ends and before the screen refreshes. Still, not bad considering that I didn't expect the chips to work at all. |
