One of the games in my Gamemaker had a damaged pin and I wanted to make a copy to replace it before losing it altogether.

Unfortunately, the only 27c512's that I had were -20, or 200ns. That's about as slow as they get! Well, I figured that I had nothing to lose, so I burned the replacement anyway -- and it worked fine! I also made a backup of my clear chip using the same slow EPROMs and it worked as well.

I just thought I'd pass this on. It might save someone from buying a new set of fast EPROMs if they already have older ones and want to use them in a GM.

The only difference on fast vs slow speed eproms is the speed at which the game first appears on the screen when you select it.  There is a sometimes noticeable delay of fractions of a second.

I found that you can use 27512's in lieu of 27C512's in the gamemaker. They are as cheap as you can get.

I have noticed slight pauses after the game ends and before the screen refreshes. Still, not bad considering that I didn't expect the chips to work at all.
