I bought a higher percentage reel chip for ABC reels on an IGT upright slot. The seller was supposed to send instructions and of course they did not. I was using some notes from the time I bought a new game kit for my IGT slant and obviously the codes don't match. I need several things. I need to get back to the 61 1 prompt for a game reset. I can't get back there even when I take the chip out again and reinstall. Also, there is supposed to be a 2  1 option for turning the sound back on and all of the codes start at 5  1. Should I put the original reel chip back in to trigger the reset from the self test?

Your help is very much appreciated. I am at grandpa's house trying to get his triple diamond machine back up again.

regards,
Billy

yes,
put the other original chip back in. Make sure it's put back in with the notch on the chip in the correct direction.
There will be a little notch printed on the board right next to the slot where you're putting the chip in.
Could it be possible you put the new chip in wrong?
Are the little legs bent?
Get the game back to where it was ...read more about it, when you get home, ask us questions then go back and change the game if you wish, when you are more prepared.

ok, the unit is working again. all I need is to turn the sound back on. Those instructions say that option 2  is needed.....pressing the self test button bypasses this and goes to 5 1. How do I get to option 2 to turn the sound back on?

If the 5-x shows up without the 2-x, the game prom does not support the on/off sound option. Make sure that dip switch 2 is on (which I think is sound). Best to set dip switches 1, 2 and 3 to the on position. Turn the blue thumbwheel on the top left side of your CPU board for volume.

The "2-1" option didnt get upgraded.
I may be lost until you get a SET chip for this machine.
In order to pick out the correct SET chip, we need to know what SS and SP chips you are using in grandpa's game.
However, it IS POSSIBLE that the board is a 10MHz board.
There will be a small blue knob on top of the motherboard/PBC case.
If there's is a knob, press the small white test switch a few times until you see a "50" on the display.
Then keep hitting the "Play" button on the panel while rotating the knob.
That will change the volume.
When you get the knob at the right volume you are comfortable with, without pressing anymore buttons, CLOSE THE DOOR.
The game will restart and you should be good to go!

Ok, that was very helpful. Pressing the spin button while I was turning the volume wheel finally produced a faint sound. It looks like we have a dirty pot 'cause FULL volume still only produces a faint sound. At least there is sound, so it's not a programming thing.  I will continue to mess with it.

Thank you for your help. It is very appreciated.

Hello Ed,

the 3 coin Triple Diamond game chip is SP709 cs(F2F8)

The reel chip is SS4786 cs(2A00)

So, are you saying that each game has its own setup instructions?

Each Game Chip has its own setup instructions.
There is an assoicated sheet called a PSR. Program Summary Report which is your guide through the S+ menus.
These are not the most straight forward documents to read but they start to make sense after you have looked at enough of them.

In order to bring you up to speed
One of our members has taken the time to put together a simplified guide to this. (K+ to R273)
You may note that some of the members have GOLD status.  It is this kind of non-monitaty contribution, something that money can't buy that makes one GOLD
(albiet no one has tried throwng a million or two at the site  rotflmao ).

If you go to the Submit a new file you will find the following document.
IGT_S+_PSRs_&_TEST_OPTION_SHEETS_SIMPLIFIED_V3.zip

The game itself which is controlled by the Reel Chip has another sheet that corresponds to it called a PAR. Paytable and Reel
This document shows you the win % (based on 10 million spins), pay out frequency for each of the pays.
It describes the reel strips etc.

As it is coming up on December you never know what some kind Santa may send you.
