I recently moved ( and moved the machine, a s+) and now my bill validator does not work.  I am so new to the hobby, I don't know where to start.  I can remove it and it starts up, but when I close the door, it does not light up and does not work. I removed the hopper and reinstalled it and it worked one time.  Any advice will be gladly accepted. Matt Help

I'd start reading all the threads on bill validators that are located in the forum.
Read the threads that mention your particular type of bill acceptor and S+'s.
There's tons of info.
You haven't even mentioned what kind of bill acceptor you have...
Is this 21 questions? LOL
Remember one thing>>>>the more you tell us - the more we will tell you...

Your machine may need certain SET chips to enable the bill acceptor.
I'd like you to read "Rick's FAQ Files" on top of this page on the right.
There's much in there for you to digest.

The fact that you said that it's intermittently working (or at least worked once after you got the machine moved) says to me that it's already enabled and you don't need a set chip (yet).  Try removing the cash can from the stacker area.  Once you've done that, make sure that the transport is seated correctly and securely fastened down with the brass colored thumbscrews (if it's an upright machine, you'll need to use a screwdriver to get at them).  The transport should not move around once it's secured in place.  Then, try FIRMLY replacing the cash can back into its housing, make sure that the cash can/stacker door is completely closed, and then close the main door.

Hello Again,

I have a WBA-11s bill validator.  It is giving me no error codes.  When I turn the machine on, I can hear it "cycle" but when I close the door it never lights up.  The machine accepts quarters and seems to work fine other than the bill validator.  It worked twice after the move,  but will not work at all now.  I have taken it apart a few times with no change in performance.  I have also removed the coin hopper and reinstalled it a few times (It worked twice after I did that previously) but now it does not help.  Thanks, Matt

If your battery voltage is low on the board it might be "forgetting" that a validator exists so maybe a fresh battery and a set chip to re-key will do the trick

I posted this problem in the S+ forum and got a few good replies but my bill validator still does not work.  Here is the low down.  The machine and validator worked fine until we moved the machine.  Once we set it back up the validator did not "light up".  I removed it and re-installed it but it did not help.  I removed the hopper and reinstalled it then the bill validator worked twice.  Since them, it has not worked.  The machine takes quarters and seems to work fine other than the validator.  When I turn the machine on, it "cycles", but when I close the door it does not work/light up.  Any new thoughts?  Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to the hobby.  Thanks, Matt  bawling

Matt,

There is no need to multi post on this as our helpful members read all posts usually. Multiple posting in different sections usually just leads to confusion. I moved the post to here, and this will bump it up on the new post lists for you as well!

A possibility is that the bulbs are bad in the BV light.... I also take it that you can insert coins and play the machine that way, correct? Have you tried to see if it takes bills even though the entry is not lit up. I assume that you have, but it is worth asking as a friend had a machine one time and the BV Entry bulbs were bad, and that was all it was.... This is a remote possibility, but worth verifying!

I would also ask if you have another cash can that you can try? The cash cans can be tempermental. If not make sure that your cash can is firmly inserted. I have had cash can problems in the past, and they usually take a firm "slam" to get them in properly. After you replace or reinsert the cash can the bill validator should cycle. Give that a try..... and let us know.

Regards,

I tried a new cash can and it did not help.  I did the ram clear and validator set up and that did not help.  I checked the battery voltage on the mother board that tested fine.  One interesting thing happened after I did the ram clear/val set up, is that the sound (after you hit the spin button) quit working.  It makes sound when it pays out and when the reels stop. This board does not have any dip switches to change, nor does it have the volume dial.  Any thoughts?  Thanks, Matt
