I bought a Summit Slot Machine for $50 dollars at a garage sale. I sent the boards into HMS electronics to have the reel ROM programed. No when I drop the quarters in the machine makes a buzz sound for each coin..... The problem is trying to pull the handle. the handle does not move unless i reach in the machine an pull a lever forward the the handle will pull the reels spin and if I get a payout the hopper will pay.

How do I get the arm to engage so I can play the game??   Duh! Silly Me! Scratch Head

HELP

Hi.. Is the buzzing sound your hearing coming from the solenoid at the handle assembly? That solenoid should cycle once a coin is inserted to release the handle. Maybe things need a bit of cleaning and oiling? Make sure the handle is returning all the way back so there is no pressure on the solenoid to release the lever...

If it's jammed, force it... If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyway...

The buzzing is a solenoid that was put in place of a bell.

As far as I can tell the lever is not in any type of a bind.

After I got the boards back from Dick from HMS Electronics  I called him to tell him my new problem after he repaired the boards. Dick @ HMS Electronics said he tested both boards to determine if there were any other problems that may need to be addressed.....

I cant think of anything I am missing.......

Do you have Dick's email address?

I have a Summit in the shop that won't recognize the second reel but all signals to the board look good.

As far as your problem it could be the triac on the I/O board (red handle) or the optoisolator that drives it.

If not on the yellow board are two ULN2003, replace both of those and see if the handle will spin.

A ULN2003 output turns on the opto triac driver on the red board which turns on a triac that energizes the handle release solenoid.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check out your recommendations.

I have had the boards to Dick twice (first time for repair) (second time) to verify the boards were working due to the problem I am having with the Handel release...
Dick said they are in working order and that I may have something else wrong inside the machine...... I have checked the continuity from the coil down to the plug in the harness

As far as Dicks email address I just got an email from his wife a while ago..... the email address is maharkey@hms-electronics.com

See if there is any voltage (AC) going to the handle release coil with a meter when the handle release is suppose to work.
The worst case scenario is to tie the handle release assembly in the release position with a well placed cable tie and put a note on the machine to "watch for coin accepted before pulling the handle".

My Summit is currently working so if anyone needs to know any correct voltages etc., just let me know and I will check on my machine.  I know it's only a matter of time before I will be the one asking the questions.
