I screwed up. I put a LED bulb in for denom. legend - 1st pic.    Got smoke coming off board in 2ND pic. Green light comes on board.
comes up on display - door open m - then coin-in-jam. I know it's not a door problem.
Do I need a new board or what?
Let it up to me to screw up a good machine.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thank Rob
I swaped out the 9 line display board & that is what I burned out.
I made it multi denom. & made a legend for the 4 denom. & it wasn'y bright enough so I thought put in a LED.

As pointed out, this has been well covered.

Using an LED in that socket per se will not damage the board.

Some of the flat base LEDs have one wire on each side that does not wrap around the bottom of the base, and some have wires that wrap so that there appear to be two wires on each side. That type shorts out the contacts in the socket -- just as if you put a screwdriver in there. Shorting the denomination light contacts burns out the seven segment LED board.

Either use LEDs with non-wrapping wires, or cut off the second half each of the two wires so that they don't wrap around before installing the LED. In practice, it's very easy to confuse the two styles unless one looks very closely at the LED's base.

P.S. Always turn off the power before replacing this bulb, whether it's an analog or LED, since any inadvertent short during replacement would cause the same damage.

It will be if you let your relations cash out all those credits.  bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing  I might even have to make you a member of the family and invite myself over for eggnog. Of course, I'll have to make sure that all of your hoppers are operating properly... stir the pot / get cooking  present

It's great that Randy was able to get you the board in time for your family to enjoy the slots over the holiday.  +1 (Karma, or whatever) karma to Randy.  applause

First pic show trace repaired and second shows insulation in place before folding the flap back over and sealing. Just for scale that trace in less than 1/8 inch long.
