Has anyone experienced this?  I have had two boards do this on two different five reel slots.  The games played fine for a few weeks and went to turn them on one day and the vfd flashes netplex link down continuously at one second intervals.  I get one amber and one red led that flash on the board at the same time as I see the netplex down on the vfd.  I have tried installing these boards in different machines replacing all of the chips out a known working game and get the same results.  Is this the right clear chip for this or does anyone know what else may cause this?  I'm going bald scratching my head trying to figure this one out.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Scratch Head

Bob (Raz410) mailing a new clear chip tomorrow.  I'll post if this solves the issue.  Thanks again Bob.

Then it started right up.

I checked the power supply and it is good.  I did get one board going with a different IVC224 chip but still have one that will not clear.  When I power it up with the clear chip the top amber light flashes on the board.

You are supposed to get 2 amber lights on steady...
only one single amber light flashing or continuously on - is a trouble code.

Hey, any chance these are 504rB boards made by Keytronics?  And if so can you test the output on your your green battery near the heat sink?

You may be onto something Jim.  I haven't tried it but someone else told me that on 504 rev B boards if you remove the green battery, the machine reports an unclearable error, unless it's replaced.  Bottom line, don't remove the green battery on 504 rev B boards.

I have four 504 rev b boards running without the nicad battery and haven't had any problems with them.  None of them are the newer Keytronics boards though.  I got one of them recently, but haven't put it in use yet.  I'll check it out this weekend.  As a standard practice I install a coin cell battery holder with a new CR2354 battery and remove the leak prone green nicad.

I've also pulled the green nicads off my 504b boards and they work fine. the one board is an obvious "b" board made in China by IGT. My keytronics b board was made in Mexico, but even though it has a b board tag it is obviously a 504a board with the IGT  b board upgrading. Both work though...

Here's my 2 cents. I had this same problem and with the help from everybody on here and SAMRON slot's it came to be a bad memory chip on the board. (The one's with the little black backpack on them) was the way it was explained to me! rotflmao The game has been working ever since I replaced them!

Jeff    I to have removed the green bat. from a 504 with success.  Blueridge told me not to remove the Battery from the enhanced 2701 board. I had to test him and he was right. It won't work with out the battery!!!!

Just a small FYI when you remove the battery, the battery is soldered at 3 points
I am thinking it is the negative end, be sure solder a small wire between contacts on that one end only.
When I removed a battery from a 502 board it started acting strange until I jumpered the 2 contacts on the one end of the battery.
