I figured i would post this experience on here in hopes it may help someone in the future . I have been
working on this IGT S+ round top that i got with no mpu . This slot had an auto hopper refill unit , it was
set up for progressive with other machines , and had a multi colored display in the top glass to show the
progressive payout . In any case after installing an mpu and some software changes i couldn't get the bill
validator to work, it wouldn't even try to accept bills . It had a definite transport problem so i replaced that .
Still no luck , tried the set chip quite a few times with no luck , changed the validator software from id 023
to 022 , started swapping parts from my other slot and nothing would work in this slot but all parts worked
in my good slot . So i figured it must be the board or the wiring . I went with the wiring first and not far
from where the power supply for the validator plugs into the main harness connector were two other
connectors that took the yellow wire with brown stripe and brown wire and kidnapped them up into the
spaghetti of the progressive boards , At some point they returned back down to the power supply as the
correct colors again . I ended up removing the auto hopper and all the progressive stuff and connecting
these two wires directly together and the dam thing works . I thought i would share this as it is not a
solution i found on here and maybe someone else will run into it .
Now that it is gutted i have been thinking of why this happened . Here are the things i think contributed
to this . When the new mpu showed up i set the dip switches to match my other non progressive slot , so
progressive was not enabled . Being that those two wires were intercepted by the progressive boards maybe
they were not enabled . I changed the denomination from $1.00 to .25 cents , the progressive boards may
have been set for $1.00 and didn't like the change . So i may have been able to set the dip switches to
progressive or changed the denomination back to $1.00 and solved this without eliminating the progressive
components , but no loss as i have no need for them in a home environment .
I hope this helps someone along the way someday .

Hey Don

Thanks for posting your solution. + karma to you

I've never heard or seen an auto hopper refill unit.

Can you post a pic?

This is a neat little unit , it mounts above the hopper and when needed the bottom opens
like a trap door and fills your hopper .

That is sweet!

I assume that unit would work in many different slots from different makers.

Thanks for posting the pics!

Jackpot , it seems i have a rare item . I did some digging and found the manufacturers website and manual .
It is pretty much a self contained unit but is designed for different models of slots , in this case the IGT S+
upright . It gets its power from a power cord that plug into the outlet in the machine and monitors the main
hopper with a few probes and the probes communicate with the auto hopper with a little transmitter /
receiver setup . So it seems pretty non intrusive . Now i know what that goofy little board is down by my
hoppers connector . I can't imagine why they would go wireless for this , the main hopper and auto hopper
are inches apart . Well , ok , i can see an attendant yanking out the hopper and ripping the wires out , so
wireless is pretty cool , that must have been it . I'll see if i can power this up and test it out , looks fun .
