You guys have such good help...I thought I'd try another. My Game King (with 3902 and MM lite board) is
set up with 31 games which we really enjoy. There's only one problem with things so far...the sound settings
won't save after turning the machine off. Every time I boot the thing, the sound reverts back a louder setting
which makes it necessary to go into the menu and turn it down for our tastes. It will last until I turn it off
again.

I thought it might be the battery, but everything else seems to be saved ok. (all game settings, cash, etc.) It's
getting obnoxious to have to reset the sound every time we turn it on.

Any thoughts on this one?

Thanks for any input...

I can't offer much help as to why it's doing it, but a low-tech solution would be to put a potentiometer (volume knob) in line with the speaker and manually adjust the volume on it after starting the machine.  Once you had that set, you wouldn't have to keep adjusting it.

Hopefully, though, someone will be able to help you determine exactly why it isn't retaining your sound setting.

When you adjust the volume there is a yellow save tab ( lower right hand screen ) The tab does not show up untill you change the volume settings.  I have never had this problem with a Game King so I'm no help.  Scratch Head Scratch Head

I hit the yellow save tab before returning to game....every time. I even tried using the set chip several times....no workee.
It still reverts to the louder setting. Weird, huh? I thought it might be something simple I'd been overlooking.

Thanks for the ideas, guys.

A separate volume knob is sounding better and better....

Yep...my "Poker/Blackjack/Lotta Keno and Slots" version of Game King does this too.  Have to turn down the .wav volume setting, save it, then go to sound diagnostics as well.  Once it's saved, it works all day long...until it's turned off, and then the .wav sounds go back to ear splitting levels.  Weird.

Jason-

A friend told me with the version I have that if the multimedia board is installed during the clear and key that it will then remember the sound settings and not make the .wav sounds ear-splitting all the time.  I'm not sure if I had mine installed when I did the clear/key.  My .wav sound adjusts in the self test, but it's obnoxious during gameplay.

Re-reading your post, though, that doesn't sound like exactly the same issue.  :-/

I'm currently running version 5.3 with the MMlite2 board(SIMM). When I adjust my sound it stays put even after powering down and back up. Both in Attendant and Operators menus.
Must be the version that makes the difference?

Yeah, 5.x won't do it.  Looks like a 4.x thing.  Different MML and chips.

You could always try Knagl's suggestion and clear/key it with the MMII in place. It couldn't hurt.
