I'm looking for some IGT help from any folks out there.  I have an IGT slant top 3609 with a 17 inch touch screen monitor.   The following are the problems:

The monitor shows clear picture but has no response to touch screen.  Try to do a ram clear and is now stuck in the key chip menu with various faults due to not being able to navigate the settings via touch screen.

Note:  this touch screen came out of another game that was working.  The touch screen that was NOT working is now on another machine and works fine.

Help!

Hi Delma,

Try removing the bill validator and see if the touchscreen works with it out.  What error messages are you getting?

Two things to try.

First, calibrate the touch screen by turning the jackpot key one time (assuming you are still stuck in the menu), if the calibration screen does not come up turn the jackpot key one more time.  Follow the on-screen "calibration" instructions that come up.

Second, try swapping the MPU board from the working machine.

Hi Delma. Could be a cabling issue. Try switching  the monitor cables with the working machine.

i have zero experience with the 3609 board but if i were stuck in keychip mode with no t/s response i would pull the mpu back out and swap the ram chips with each other, install game software and clear through all the errors until the game was back up.  then i would diagnose the t/s problem with the help of the diagnostics in the operator menu.
you mentioned that you used a known good t/s but how about the t/s control board?
good luck

Bad mpu boards can cause the touch screen issue.

dont panic over a touchscreen problem...you're having a simple problem and all you need to do is take one of your hands and keep it on the door of the machine or any metal part thereof and use your other hand to touch the screen to set your options...this works great as you use your body as a ground connection....works for me all the time and strangely ONLY on IGT'S

I'm pretty sure if Delma was panicking since May 2010, then she wouldn't have to worry about a machine anymore.  I would check your cord for a ground pin, or the circuit where you plug it in..

Thanks,
Wayne
