Only when I'm not sleeping. Don't like to do it while I'm sleeping.
And when I have money. It's not a lot of fun when I don't have money either

During the night.  I like the night life.  Even at home, my machines are rarely on during the day.

At home, anytime I'm not busy.

At the casino, it used to be when we flew from Mich. to Vegas we would get up at 4am (7am Mich. time) and play until breakfast around 7am. Have the whole casino to ourselves during that time. And it was all coin-in back then so I would walk around with a tub of quarters trying all the machines.  propeller  That was the best time.

I play mine anytime of the day or later at night.t. I try not to get up too early, I'm retired.
I never turn my machines off. Sometimes in the heat of Summer I will turn them off at night  & leave my front door open all night after I turn off the A.C. I don't like to leave them on when I have my door open all night.

I've talked with the Casino Techs & they say they are designed to stay on all the time.

Will all the worms come back out of the ground? rotflmao
There's been numerous discussions on this subject in the far and recent past.
Not all "Casino Techs" agree that it's a good idea to leave your machines on all the time -
Maybe in a 24/7 live Casino...but not in a home environment.

There are many variables and here are a few>>>

1). It's a waste of energy resources.

2). If you're only going to play the machine like an hour per day - why pay a light bill for the other 23 hours?

3). Any electronics will die from being on 24/7 because IC components have a specific lifetime - why reduce it?

4). It's not smart to leave electronics on when there's no one home - even though we do it all the time.

5). The reel strips will fade into ugly mush from the fluorescent lighting...try leaving a photograph hanging
on the wall where sunlight hits it everyday and see what happens to it...

Usually after work... its a good stress reliever to sit down and not think about anything for an hour after a long day.

And the casino trips usually start at night. Sometimes they end an hour later, sometimes they end at 5 in the morning if I'm lucky  Crazy

Bunker,
thanks for the info.
I thought if you turn the machine on & off you can mess up the the Board & power supply. Is this true  or false. please let me know. Like you said we leave our computers on all the time.
True about the strips, they can  fade.
As far as the electric goes I believe there is only 3-15w. bulbs.
Thanks again about the electric usage but to be honest., our electric  rates are very inexpensive.

I will start a post on the pro's & con's on leaving on the machine.

thanks again for the help.

I thought if you turn the machine on & off you can mess up the the Board & power supply. Is this true  or false.

There are always variables. Normally turning items on and off causes 'stress' on components because they heat up and cool down over and over, and can eventually fail. Also some components have high startup currents which can eventually cause them to fail.

Now, OTOH, heat is one of electronic's worse enemies, and slot machines run hot inside. The constant heat can also cause things to fail sooner than identical componets kept nice and cool.

So IMO, it's pretty much a wash when it comes to slot machines as far as failures due to leaving on all of the time or turing off when not in use.

That said, I prefer to save energy and wear and tear on my AC/C unit, so I power mine down when not in use.

As far as the electric goes I believe there is only 3-15w. bulbs & our elect rates are very inexpensive.

I have one of those 'kill-a-watt' meters and my S+ shows 120 watts when idle. So that is 2.88kwh per day if left on 24/7. Rates are somewhat cheap here at $0.11 kwh. So that is about $0.31 a day per machine or about $9.50 a month per machine.

That does not include the added cost to run the A/C more if they were left on 24/7 (unlesss you live in Alaska or something where the heat would help offset the heating bill).
