I have a S-2000 with back light reels in it and the bottom light on the candle will not go out, it will go on and stay on whenever the machine is on. When I hit a hand pay it does not blink just stays on. I have replaced the top harness(Thanks to Raz410) with a know good one and that did not help. I have 4 cpu board and it does it with all the boards. Any ideas. I look at all the wiring in there and I am just lost. If you have any ideas what to check could you show me a picture of what to do as I have no idea what all the parts are in the machine.
You guys are great and I really appreciate all your help.

The bottom lamp in the candle just means that the door was opened.
If you play a game - it should go out.

S2000 candles basically use 3 wires - red, brown and black.
They go from the candle into a 6-pin Molex connector on the topbox harness.
From there, they run on down in the main harness to the motherboard on the back wall behind the MPU cabinet.

When you hit the "Cash Out" button - it stays on?
What happens when you hit the "Service" button?

When I hit the cash out button the top light blinks, I do not have a bulb in the bottom of the candle as it gets to hot. It says call attendant and I have to turn the key. I have my hopper set at 0. Something I did right after I got the machine was to remove the bulb from the cash out button as it was driving me crazy with it blinking and when I did that a wire plug came off of the switch and I left it that way because I could not get me fingers in there. The switch works fine when I cash out so could that wire off be causing me this problem. The machine plays fine. When I got the machine the bottom bulb was burned out and I did not find this out until after I took the bulb out of the switch, but I figured that if the bulb was burned out when I got the machine that wire should not matter, but may as usual I may be wrong. Let me know and thanks for your help.
When I hit the service the top light goes on. The bottom bulb stays on no matter What I hit or when the door is open it still stay lit, never blinks.

You could always just remove the light bulb from the bottom socket.  Problem solved. Smiley

That what I have done is to remove the bulb, but it would be nice if when I hit a hand pay it would flash like it is supposed to.,

Yeah, if the door is opened, the bottom light should flash on and off.  Mine will go off automatically after I close the door.

Try this,

Open your main door
Press the MPU test button
Scroll to Options / Machine Options / Candles

Set Reactive Candle Timer to 00
Door Closure Candle On/Off is set to Disable
Drop Door Candle is set to Enable

These are the default settings.  Might be worth a look.

Thanks,
Jason

Has it always acted this way since you've owned it or did it used to not come on?  Do you have a ticket printer in that machine?  Top candle will usually flash when it is low or out...but you said the bottom light stays on.  Do you have another MPU that you could throw in your machine for testing?  I had a specific version of Game King software that did this type of thing that drove me batty and we finally determined that it was a game specific problem with the software.  On an S2000, I don't know if specific versions of chips on your MPU could cause that kind of thing, but further down the troubleshooting, we might look there if nothing else is working.

When you open the door, and powered on - is the amber LED lamp flashing on the MPU board?

It has done this since I got the machine, I use four different cpu,s in the machine to play the four games that I have and it stays lite with all the cpu,s. I used a test light on the wire plug that plugs into the candle and two wires have power all the time and the other one is ground. But from there I do not know what to do.,
Thanks a lot

When I open the door there are no light on, on the CPU is that what you mean?

No...the MPU.
The CPU is on the MPU.

I was hoping the amber lite was flashing but it isn't.
I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with your MPU boards or CPU's.
The only thing I can think of is that the candle wiring isn't configured correctly in the Molex housing.
Did someone mess with the pinouts for the Molex that connnects to the topbox harness?
Do the wires match colors on BOTH sides of the 6-pin connection?

I wonder if  the black ground is crossed with the brown wire?
Or black crossed with red.
Black should be lined up with black, red w/red, and brown w/brown on both sides.

I have a machine that has the same problem once in a while.
When I open & close the main door the bottom candle light flashes. After the first game played the blinking light goes off. After a few minutes the bottom flashing light comes back on.
This is what works for me,
I unlock the main door & jiggle the latch up & down a few times. Close the door & the next game played the light goes off & stays off. I'm more careful when I close the door  & this has not happened in quite a while. My problem was in the wiring for the door latch.
I know you have checked all the wiring. Maybe one of the pins are not seated correctly. I'm only guessing & usually don't know, but there has to be a way to trace it back to the source?
Good Luck, if you find the solution please share with the group.
