Try a KEY 17 and/or make sure there are no credits on your machine...

Well just to make sure I tried 17 and nothing... it is possible that my 22 is bad but it is an igt original... I guess I will have to see if I can get a hold of a 22 then.

try 17 again, there is no display on that one, look at you MPU for the 2 yellow lights after powering on. once 2 yeelow lights are on power off and replace base chip.

key 17 works just like the s2000 .

also is that screen button red or blue when you go to settings with base chip in

It is a blue options screen, when I try to use 17 two lights do come on but not the ones like on a s2000. The lights that come on are the ones that are closest to the test switch- yellow. If I remember correctly it is the two farthest from the test switch on an s2000.

After I replace the base chip the machine does not boot into the keychip menu. It still comes up like a ram clear was just done with the verify all option before putting in play window.

Clear chip 97 was used before this and no credits are on the machine.

I used the new 22 I made and the machines says that this keychip will not work on this machine. Power down and replace base eprom to continue.

I also tried 28 again just to make sure I didn't miss pin it or something and it comes up with a funky display. I did verify that both chips work in other machines.

I must just be trying the wrong key chip. Any one have any other ideas?

That is GK 5.0 and the correct key & clear chip is 100% definately KEY00022 are you using C0001189 for your CG and PIXEL SIMMs and DSS00334 for sound SIMM?  Have you tried reseating all of your eproms and SIMMs? Does the normal menu come up for the KEY00022, and have you tried the clears with the KEY00022? I know mentioned that you tried a clear 97, but you did not say if you tried clearing with the 22???

Ok after days of bashing my head against the monitor of this game I finally made progress... 22 or by extension 40 both work on the machine. However because 28 was used first and it was not compatible with that setup it caused a conflict with the e^2. I replaced that (fingers crossed) and it worked! I have to give credit to ScarySister from the slottech delphi forum for that one.

Thanks for all of your help and I hope this helps someone in the future.

Good to hear! Thanks for updating us. I use the KEY28 for my poker, but it is for the 044 setup.
