When playing a traditional 3 reel single line s2000, I often see the jackpot symbol land on the first reel followed by an extended spin on the 2nd reel before anything lands. It's usually never a winning combination. Been wondering this for a while. Let's hear it guys...

That is a funny video. But I want a more serious/technical answer. If you don't believe me, fire up your s2000 and pay close attention...

I wasn't kidding about your mind's memory remembering that particular losing reel combination.
A human mind will remember something like that for a few reasons...>>>

1). The 1st reel stop is on the Jackpot symbol...you senses awaken as your heart rate rises
and your eye pupils dilate  Weird Eyes with the expectation of more Jackpot symbols.
This imprints and sears this particular losing reel combo stop into your brain's memory.

2).  The particular reel combo is heavily weighted to help allow the game's percentage programming to fall into order.
The reel program will produce much more losing spins than winning reel stop combinations
to balance out the house take percentage.

3). A certain slot machine company in the past was forced to remove all chips
that had a heavily weighted "near-miss" reel combination feature.
     This is a fact.

The above first two reasons are my personal hypothetical theoretical analysis and assumption
of millions of reel spins I've watched in machine reel spin testing modes
and from what I understand about the RNG and it's operation.
Remember, the casino wants to keep you attracted to your machine -
this is one way to do it.
They want you to think you have a chance of winning....

By no means is this a glitch in the program or someones mind playing tricks on them. I believe it was designed to create higher anticipation for the player. What's even more amusing is the higher volatility games (5X or 10X multipliers) have a major spin extension. Some might think this is silly, yet you haven't paid close enough attention to the reel action. I guarantee many will now that its being discussed.

I've seen this on a variety of machines with any reel after the first, as long as it would still be possible to jackpot or bonus.  It is for anticipation and does it whether it will be a winning combination or not.  Not only the jackpot sybmols, but on some machines it does it with the bonus symbols for the bonus game.  Bally machines have this for hot shots etc.

It's no "glitch" Danny, it's part of the reel prom program for those particular reel stops
and the intention of a slot program designer.
If you were to look at a PAR sheet for the game you're talking about -
the way the other two reels stops is part of the program.
All you would have to do is see the strip symbol layout.

It is also a very prevalent reel stop combination on 5 reel programs as well...not just 3 reel games.
I know because I have a 5R9L180CM DD Pennies game installed in my S2000 machine as we speak.
