Know this has been covered, as I've read most of the links looking for suggestions...

Have a Game King 17" (see pics).  I got the dreaded "Coni-in jam / meters disconnected" error message...

I confused Jim at Blueridge Slot - I ended sending the MPU board out to him - which checked out fine.

I bought a new set of I/O boards (door & cabinet) and briefly(!) cleared all the error messages.

However, it's baaack!!  I was able to clear the coin out jam with a Key Chip, but alas...

I do note that sometimes when I turn on the machine (with both cards in) the push buttons don't light up (or maybe some of them do randomly), but when I really push the door card in all of the lights will be on - this has zero effect on the error messages.

I've checked & cleaned contacts, etc  My thought is that maybe some of the contacts in the cabinet board are corroded, but don't really have a way to test this out.

Any suggestions would be great!

Hi Snives!

Just to be clear, you didn't attempt to push the door card in while the machine was on, right?  I'll assume you didn't.  Since you've replaced all boards except the motherboard backplane, then it would seem that could be the culprit.  I've also heard that the meters can actually cause the issue.

Did you also try the troubleshooting tip someone had posted about unplugging the meters from the IO board (while the machine is off of course) and seeing if that makes COIN IN TIMEOUT go away?

The reality is, I have the same issue with my GK where the keys and lights stop working.  In my case, I have an issue somewhere that keeps blowing one of my chips, so I just keep replacing it.  It's very hard to find and solve these issues.  I'm hoping whoever chimes in for you will actually be helping both of us!  :-)

You could try unpluging and repluging all your connectors on the backplane with power off ofcoarse. and then you could try taking the caseing off of the door that the door I/O plugs into and clean the plug really good with contact cleaner and air then plug it in whith the casing still off the door so you can see it is pluging in all the way. I would also check the part numbers on the new I/O cards just to be sure that you have the right ones If you post the part numbers some one should be able to verify wether you have the right ones and if they are in the right spots. I/O cards are very sensitive just pluging one into the wrong spot could damage the card so don't try to swap them.
