Have been reading and reading and was struck by the backlit reel concept. However, in re-reading it appears only some games "use" backlit reels. I have an s2000 Vision Slingo and was wondering if this upgrade would change anything in my game.

Secondly, the audio upgrade. Read and read and it appears I need a new MPU board at least 504 Rev B, a MM lite board, Simm board DSV00042, and as an added bonus, I then have  to deal with static or hum with resistors on speakers.

So you can see that if backlit reels do nothing for my game, it lets me bypass the audio hum issue if I decide to upgrade sound.

Would love to try mods, only if they are appropriate for my machine.

Thanks for helping teh newbie.

The board set-up you listed is designed to eliminate the static issue, but I don't believe you can use a sound simm in conjunction with vision sounds. As far as backlit reels, it's doable, but there may not be backlit strips available foryour theme. Check your existing strips for a black or grey backing that would indicate they are backlit strips. If they are then the upgrade is relatively simple and inexpensive

Ah that makes sense. I assumed you would use your existing reels. Mine have a white background. Also thanks for teh clarification on the audio not applying to the Vision series.

Did I see a post where someone had painted the inside of the reel strip to allow for backlighting?

Before I started painting I would look around and see how hard it's going to be to get a new set of strips to replace the ones I just screw up !! I've often wondered if you couldn't cut holes in a real thin piece of black plastic and place behind the strips.  Scratch Head Scratch Head

Yea youre right- no strips to be found for Slingo and since they have to be transparent in some places I guess this is an idea thats not for me.

Thanks anyway.

Yah, guys have took a black Sharpie or marker to the back of their strips, but I just couldn't do it if it was the ONLY set I had for the game!  no

Ill keep it original with regards to the reels then, but how about the sound board? The Vision series only has top speakers, no bottom speakr so I cant imagine a huge sound improvement anyway. Do the larger bat ear speakers make any improvement over the flush vision ones and can they be simply interchanged?
