Just a little tid bit  of information. Lately I've been reprogramming some simms mostly for I Games. The way the burner works is you tell it to "Write" and start the program, first it erases then writes the new files on the simm. Then if you want to you can "Verify" ( I allways do ) It's really supprising how many times you get a bunch of errors. Today I had just received (50) DSV00052 Right off the bat one of them would read that it was a 8 MEG simm and it's actually a 16 MEG. The burner has 4 sockets that I can use so I moved it around and each time it would read 8 MEG. OK not the first bad simm I've received so tossed it in the junk drawer. I finished the Frequent Flyer game and went back to the junk simm, but this time I cleaned all the contacts with a pencil eraser, it now reads that it's in fact a 16 MEG simm.

Now the reason I'm posting all this BS is I am wondering how many of us just install a sound simm on the MM II sound board with out cleaning the contacts. Sure were getting enhanced sounds, but are we getting 100 percent of the sounds that are programed on the simm ??  I don't know the ans. I do know with my limited experience with a simm burner you have to clean the contacts. ( It takes about 5 seconds )

Good info Buzz! Might be a quick fix for SIMMs that are thought to be "bad". Worth the 5 seconds with a pencil eraser anyway.

I like that trick myself I often clean lithium batteries or contacts with a eraser. I have a question I have tons of CG Rom cards. The contacts used to be a copper color, now they are silver in color and are no longer making a good contact. Does anyone know of a paint on contact liquid that could help me?
