hi,  just bought 3 "as is" Williams' dot matrix slots to add to my 3 other Williams, i have them all working, one needed top power supply.  i do have a question on the dot matrix display.

on two of the new machines when i power up, the dot matrix display has a fairly large black area in the middle of the board, BUT, within 2 or 3 seconds it fills in with the standard orange pixels and seems to be OK until the next power off/on sequence.

is this a harbinger of display failure to come???  i have had 8 Williams machines with DMD and never saw this happen.

any help would be appreciated.

first make sure you are running 5.13 or 5.14 version
of the top box OS at XU10 (27010). the earlier versions of
the XU10 have problems and will act as you describe.
Also you may want to consider using an ATX power supply
for the top box power instead of the original. It's a good
inexpensive solution and makes the whole system a lot
more reliable.
