IGT Multi Poker Machine - What's a fair price & How are they to work on?

Hi all:

I've been working on S+ slots for a while, just starting with S2000 machines - but never worked on a PE or PE+.  One recently came available which looks to be a relatively easy fix - the owner says that the coins just drop through and that the bill feeder doesn't work, either - but the machines' video display works fine otherwise.  I'm thinking that I should buy it and that I'll figure out what's wrong with the amazing support of the folks on this board.  But, before I do, and potentially make a bad purchase, I wanted to know the subject questions -- what's a fair price (in this nonworking condition) and are they as easy to work on as, say, an S plus?

Single game, working condition - $700-800, Multi game, working condition - $800-900. That's at least what we would ask for it anyway.

OK - so if it's a "Multi-Poker" does that mean it's a "multi-game?"  I guess so...yes?

Yes. Multi-Game or Mult-poker same deal.

Depending on where you are the value of the game will vary.
Try selling it in Nevada or Ohio where games are plentiful and you are probably looking south of $500.

Flog it in Kansas where they more rare and you will get $850.00.
Flog it in California and you go to jail..... make sure you are selling into a "legal" state.

So on a multi-poker does it actually take five separate EPROMs of the user's choice?  Or is there just one chip (or chip set) that can go into any given machine?

Yes, sort of....how's that for an answer.

There are a couple of ways.
On a super board
A typical game consists of a program and data chip.
Supported by a MXO MGO MRO MBO and a CAPx chip.
The latter chips are the graphic chips responsible for the colours.
Focusing on the program and data chip there are two sets of multi-game chips.
Each containing 5 games.

Alternatively you can get a wing board. This plugs into the program chip and then takes 5 chips so you can define your own multi game.
The cavet here is that all of the games must use the same data chip and must share the same set of graphics chips.

It depends on your location as to what's a good price, but considering that it's essentially working, save for coin/bill-in stuff, it should be a snap to fix.
