Newbie help

I'm looking to add a slot to my pinball room and need a little guidance on getting started.  I really want to add an Atronic IC Money, but I also would like to be able to swap out the eproms to convert to Break the Spell.  Is this possible?  I've tried to read up on the Cashlines and it seems this could be problematic.  Any help getting started would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome!

Atronic Cashlines are not the easiest machines to change games on. It requires a dongle that links the machine to a PC. The settings are cleared and re-programmed in a unique PC program and then uploaded to the slot machine. The dongle costs approx $300...

Parts are another consideration. Atronic parts are no where near as available as other manufacturers like IGT or Bally. If I were to have just 1 machine, i would have to pick an S2000. Maybe an IGT I-Game is something you could consider. Different games are relatively easy to come by and the machine and game change is much friendlier. Also, parts are plentiful should anything ever fail.

One of the attractions of the Atronics was that I can't find them in casinos anymore.  However, I don't want to make my life difficult either by getting stuck with a machine I can't fix because it is so rare

I see Creature from the Black Lagoon, which really never paid me anything, but was fun to play so I'm considering that one.  It is an I Game Plus.  Is that a good option?  Staying with the monster theme, are the Munsters eproms swappable?

Any of the I-Games are interchangeable. They are simply 2 pieces of glass, and then the EPROMs and SIMM cards. You have to clear the machine and set up your options, but after a few times, you will be a pro.

You have great taste, lol. The themes you mentioned are among the harder to find games. The good thing is you can find a "not so good" game theme at a more reasonable price, then change the game kit out to a more desirable game.

You know you are headed for an addiction right? You cant have just one slot machine, no matter what youre thinking right now! Unfortunately, there's not an 800 number to call for SMA (Slot Machine Addiction), like AA, NA, or GA (Gamblers Anonymous), we just come here for support....and to buy more goodies!

I don't have much room for more than one slot.  Has anyone bought from Rocky Mountain Slots?  They use several different websites under different names which worries me.  Also, anyone you recommend for eproms (via pm)?

Sure Brian the owner of Rocky Mt. Slots is a member of this site, and yes I have bought machines from him. Two different Webb sites, two different names and two different retail  shops about 50 miles apart.

May want to get photos of the machine you are getting before you commit. It is nice to get the machine you are looking at online. In my case the top glass was way different from the online photo. That means I had to spend 50.00 buck's plus shipping and was lucky to find the "correct top glass". Just saying!!. Some folks mindset of "completely refurbished" may be different than what you may think it is.

Don't forget a decent stand!!. These things are heavy!!. You will need two people to move it.
A decent dolly is a must. I did get one of those hydraulic tables to help also, very handy indeed.

For my last machine I just got from Jim Slayer (Better Slots) I went to a recycle home place / parts
and bought plywood 3/4" and a countertop for 21.00 dollars then spent about 4-5 hours putting it together.
I had glue and screws already. If you are decent with a table saw, it is pretty easy.
If not just buy one and have them throw it on the pallet if there is enough room.

Also, don't forget a chair. I looked at several places for a 2' high chair. I could not find one in my limited search. I am in a small town. A decent surge protector is needed also (at least for me).
