After a long night of drinking I woke up to this machine next to me...  Silly Me! My first s2000... (pics of her attached)

It needed a new battery so I jumped a new battery with wires for now until I get the socket type battery. (like the enhanced board has)

Questions:

1-The green battery is not in the best of shape (starting to leak) and I read that it can simply be cut off.. If so, do I need to bridge the positives together? Some people say you do while others say just to cut it off.

I used a Key31 to get her up and running and was disappointed in the audio. I see the s2000's with the fancy sound and thought thats what it would be.. Now I know I need a sound upgrade.

2-How do I go about upgrading the sound on this board? Is it easier/cheaper to just buy a new board? What parts are needed?

3-The multi denom touch pad does work, I just need a new legend .01/.02/.05/.10. Are these widely available? Haven't seen any on ebay or the online slot part stores.

4- What are my options on game changes? Some type of 5reel 9line game with bonus type play or the like. Can this be turned into a vision easily?

Sorry for the noob lingo...

Thanks,

Harvey

You can safely remove the green battery on your board without jumping anything. You can add a mml2 sound board and dsv sound simm but most of the 5 reel themes will only give you legacy sound but it will yousually sound better(you can't really upgrade to the enhanced board without replaceing the backplane as well). I haven't really looked for the legends before but I know that you can print out your own the touch pad works fine threw normal paper I do have acouple that just say A B C D. As far as converting to a vision I don't think there are to many 5 reel vision themes out there. There are some bonus spin themes like double diamond run. It's yousually not easy to find parts for vision, barcrest, or reeltouch.

bust gut laughing  Isn't it strange how they multiply?  Congratulations on your new baby. wine

I don't know all these answers - I'm sure you'll get plenty of help.  I can tell you about the sound though.  That one's easy.  You want a MMII SIMM board with a DSV00042.

Also, there are folks here with the legends you're seeking or you can make your own.

As far as game sets, I'm not sure you want to go back to Vision because the S2000 selection is greater (I think).  You can put Vision, S2000 and S+ in your machine.  Others can chime in here.

Best of luck!  :Dave

Thanks guys,

I will look into the parts mentioned and do the math.., Maybe a enhanced board with everything needed will be the way to go. We shall see.

(-IF ANYONE HAS THE PARTS NEEDED FEEL FREE TO SHOOT ME A PM-)

Battery is coming off asap.

And yes, they multiply.... I just hope she doesn't have octuplets soon.. !!!OCTOSLOT!!!   I don't have the extra cash to feed all those BV's.. I'm broke!!!!

Game options for S2000 5 reel Visions are limited, but some are out there. Little Green Men &  Double Diamond Run are the only 2 that come to my mind, but I'm sure there's probably more.

On a standard S2000 5 reel game, you have quite a few options for game change.

Triple Butterfly 7s, Triple Double Red Hot Strike (red and purple 7s with flames), Double Gold (we have a kit available), Triple Lucky 7s, Double Diamond Free Spin, Cleopatra, Enchanted Unicorn, Triple Stars (some star game anyway), Double 2x3x4x5x, and the list goes on and on.

Also, when shopping for 5 reel kits, any game that plays more than 9 lines will need an R board (daughter board to MPU). Use caution, as R boards are game specific and can sometimes be hard to find. Usually the R boards are $75-100.

As far as upgrading to an enhanced board, it wouldn't be my suggestion...just upgrade to a 504b standard board (add resistors if you have static still), and get your bass speaker working good. Seems like we have one downstairs that does "non-typical" sounds, Trip Dbl Red Hot Strike. If you like I can check it out.

ROZ! I'm still awake, refreshing this site every 15 seconds since you last mentioned you planned on looking for the ChamII+.. HAHAHa..

Double Diamond free spin sounds fun.. Cleopatra is another, but aren't those kits big $$? I have already donated one of my kidneys for slot parts.. Let me know what kits you have, maybe I'll buy one?, along with that chamII+ kit you have hiding in that box.

About the sound.. I stopped by a friends place (NLG member) and the sound on his makes a huge difference (he did not have a chamII+ kit hiding in any boxes). I'm not sure what/how the 504b board differs from the one I have but any parts to get that working would be great. Just let me know the extremely low price and I'd be happy to buy it.., Along with other knick knacks.. s+ buttons (minty) etc.. oh, and that chamII+ kit you have hiding in that box.

Let me know what you have.

P.S. My horoscope mentioned to have a ROZ look in a box or something for a chamII+ fully functional kit.???.

HA, Thanks Roz

Oh Harvey, you know I'm scared to death of progressive stuff....I was secretly hoping you had found the Cham2+ since I flaked on you this weekend!  bust gut laughing  OK!!!! I'll face my fears and see what I have for you, pinky promise! I bought a box of them along with some others I needed and was told they were "The ones everyone wants", so lets see if that's true! rotflmao

Yes, Cleo and Enchanted Unicorn are big $$$. Dbl Diam Free Spin is not to bad (sold one a couple months ago for around $90-100, I think). Price is heavily dependent on the game. Like a Double Gold would be on the $60-70 range.

The 504b board does make a difference (although I tried to deny it as long as I could). I know some of the 5 reel kits have Sound SIMMs specifically for them, but not really sure if the DSV42 works on all the non-sound specific games. One of the Sound gurus could help us there.

If you have a DSV42 and MML2 in another S2000, try it out in your 5 reeler and see what it does! If I wasn't such a dork, I could make a video of one of our game so that you could hear it at least.   Tongue Out

I have a Double Diamond Free Spins 180credit game and the DSV42 doesn't do anything in it. When the free spin bonus starts the game goes completely silent when it should be playing a song during the free spins.

It's been discussed recently that the max bet capabilities affects sound capabilities because of storage space on the chips. A 45 or 90 coin max bet machine may have sounds a 180+ coin machine doesn't.

Yes I should have put that in my response since I just read about that the other day. Since they have a DSV card for Double Diamond Free Spin, I'm guessing if I put it in the game the free spin bonus would play sound like it should. I just haven't gotten around to switching out the DSV yet.

Just a note on those chamII +
if they been sitting in a box it would
be wise to fire them up and make sure the
Battery VL2020 holds a charge...if not you
will be sending him a dead unit.

I always put a new battery in any used
one I pick up due to the age of these boards.

Doesn't have to be hooked up to a machine
or display for that matter.

Take a standard 3 prong PC power cord
plug it into the cham power supply and see
if the battery voltage goes up and holds a charge

If it keeps dropping below 2.7v its best to replace.
This would be the easiest way to do it.. without hooking up the display and using PSP
and programming it.

Sorry at work right now trying to type on the phone.

Nope, that's enough. So if we have replacement batteries, I can just replace it for good measure. I thought it was irreplaceable or something from the way I read you post. (Bear in mind my disclaimer, I know nothing about these boogers. I've even read on them, but without having a good understanding of the different components, it was like reading German...)

No problem, THAT I can do! Now to just find a power supply! Like I said, it's just a box of boards i believe, not complete units. We shall see.

Thanks for all the info Lads!! (some I understand, some info is like trying to understand someone speaking in braille. HAha.)  muted

Roz, Let me know if you find something.. - To be honest, it would prob be easier if I just bought a 3cr haywire glass kit. I have a 9" and RT box for that machine. That dam# Haywire is out the door once I get everything proper.., its making me go Haywire.

Thanks again y'all!  Clap

Harvey, All I have is 15 Mikohn Smart Machine Interface Boards and 3 Mikohn Slot Interface Boards. I do not have the complete units, only the boards themselves and some cables....

Haywire Glass kit is looking good right now, I'd say....

I agree. Do you have a Haywire 3cr RT or 9" kit? Also can you get your hands on a s2000 5r 9l Double diamond run kit (9") with chips etc?

No Haywire glass available for sale. We have 1 Haywire kit left, and it is stashed for personal use. Its one with extra lighting wired into the back of the belly glass (OEM not a custom mod). Haywire belly has a red lightning bolt/zig-zag thing running across it. The wiring follows this zig-zag across the glass, so I'm guessing it lights it somehow. Have never installed it, but some day will get around to it. haywire glass does not come up that often, and when it does, it goes quick.

5R9L Double Diamond - Sold the last one about a month ago....there around though, seems BR549 had one??  Scratch Head Scratch Head

Post a WTB and maybe someone will come up with something for you...
