With the 10mhz board in my S+, how much difference is there between the normal and the fast setting as it pertains to gameplay?
Is it worth messing with?   Scratch Head

It's hardly noticeable.  The spin times decrease by tenths of seconds.  In a small casino where few machines get lots of play, it can mean a good deal of money, but at home, you'll hardly notice it.  Someone with an autoplay could probably build stats on how many more spins per hour you get, but it would also be variable depending on how many winners you get.  I wouldn't bother with it.

To tell you the truth, I never saw a difference that I could detect, and even thought that the switch was broken back when I got my first machine (pre-NLG). Rick is correct that the only way that one could determine its effects would be with an autobet device and several hours of data.

Remember that the length of a single spin is determined more than anything else by the physical location of the selected stops on the second and third reels. If the chosen physical stops just happen to be lined up properly, (reel two slightly trailing reel one, and three slightly trailing two) all three reels will stop almost simultaneously, although they still must stop in left-to-right order as this is how the computer routine is programmed. At the other extreme, if the chosen physical stops of each successive reel are slightly leading one another or are perfectly aligned, then the second reel will have to make another complete revolution after the first reel stops, and the third will have to make two.

 propeller As an interesting note:
When I changed game kits, I noticed that the dipswitch setting on my machine was set to fast.  i changed it for grins to see what happens/
applause And now my reels run significantly quieter applause
Coincidence? I dont know, but some of you know I was working on making them less noisy during game play..a quick fix I didn't know existed  yes

I would guess that when you swapped kits and installed the reel strips they are on tighter than the old ones were.  This frequently quiets down the reels until the strips get loose again.

Well actually, when I first put them in, they were more loose than my last set, I almost thought they were a hair to narrow.  At first, no difference in reel noise, but after playing it a while I pulled
the MB to change the dipswitch for the reel sound setting and at the same time changed the speed setting switch. When i resumed play...Quieter!!!  applause
