Don't bother unless you have the reel shelf and hareness to go with them, and a backlit controller that is LED compatible. The LED baclit reels require different parts to make it complete.

Hello!

Thanks for the info - you just saved Foster and I from a eBay bidding war....lol...and saved me some money Smiley  Now that I look closer - the bottom does look different than the standard ones.

If anyone wants to take a look - pic and link below - good old Rudy...

Yes, the reels lock into the shelf like the 5 reel setups do, so they are totally different.

That's an interesting idea.  I wonder if the bulbs on regular back light reels can be changed to LEDs  -  Scratch Head

I think a long while ago Stat said he tried it and didn't like how it looked.

If I remember correctly the issue was that the light from the leds are not diffused enough and are more like a spotlight behind the reel strips, Therefore the symbol has a lit up focused spot in the center and not entirely illuminated.

I tried original 4 headed LEDs from IGT and they worked pretty well lighting up the symbols and the color was much better than with the incandescent bulbs.  The problem that I found was that they glow pretty bright even when the machine was idle or when I didn't hit anything.   Also, LED reels do to not glow like the incandescent bulb reels do.

I had, and the issue was as tacman stated above. However, my experiment was on a Wms Dotmation, not an IGT.

They are continually updating the diffusion of light
from LEDs to the point where they're pretty cool now!
There LEDs now that don't have such a so pointed, spotlight almost laser-like beam effect...
I personally like the 5 LED packages...
they put four on the sides and one on top.
Plus they throw a frosted cover over them to really split the light angles to the point where
it's a really bright white but nicely spread out light.

I have been trying to convert my machines over to LED's. the 3 led lights available at HAPP have a poor spot light type illumination on the reels and other spot I have used them. I heard of these plug in 5 led lights.

Where might someone find the 5 led bulbs kits? or possibly a hole led set up self, controller and reels?

Does any one have these for sale?

Thanks

Blake

I saw a set for sale on fleabay, but I think you'd need the
stepper control board and particular harness to make it all work?
I don't know offhand if there's more stuff needed...
now, you're talking about and S2000 machine ,right?

I know the led reels on ebay need a new controller, harness and self. I was trying to avoid this conversion as I have a four reel s2000 game and the parts will be harder to come by. In a prior post someone was talking about a plug in 5 led bulb that has a better light coverage than the 3 led bulbs one can get at HAPP. This interested me enough to see if anyone has heard of these bulb and where could I buy them.

Thanks
Blake
