bought my first PE+ today, have a couple questions

hello, i am new to your forum. i must say it kicks azz here. top forum i could find for these kinds of topics. 

i just bought a PE+ double bonus poker 1996 model and have a couple of questions. so thought i would ask the pro's here

1) this machine has the PE+ superboard, can i plug in other superboards with different games and have no issues or other things to change out?
is there something i need to do in test mode before or after?.....how do i get it in to test mode, a switch somewhere?

2) where is a good place to purchase other replacement programmed eproms sets, so i can change games on a spare board..etc..

Hi and welcome.

I guess you got the sound issue sorted as you've amended your post. It is the blue pot anyway.

1) You shouldn't have to change anything in the test menu unless you want to alter the settings of the game. However, if you have a bill validator fitted then you will probably need a set chip to enable it between game changes. Regarding getting into the test menu, you press the small white button on the superboard tray and then turn the jackpot key or press the deal button to make changes.

2) Any of the vendors above will try to help you out on game sets, they will also be able to help you with a set chip if you need one. I don't have a bill validator on mine so I don't know for sure that you will need one between changes, but I'm sure someone here will chip in shortly with a definate answer.

The PE+ superboard chip set consists of:  A Program Chip, A data Chip, 4 graphics chips, MXO, MRO etc... and a Caprom.
When you are using the Non-Superboard is basically the same but there is no data chip.

You will need a set chip for game changes. I have a clear chip, but I never have had to use it.

You can buy chip sets, in my case I have about 4 superboards and 2 of the non-superboards. Because there are so many game chips its just a lot faster.

The challenge with the PE+ platform is that Caproms are based on a chip that not made anymore so these are harder to come by. One of our gold members Stolistic has documented an adapter board that allows you to use a different chip in its place. Dig through the posts as there is a wealth of cool info.

There is a white self test button usually located right next to the processor board. The menus are all on screen and are pretty self explanatory.

If you have a bill validator, you will need to re-enable it when you switch between boards or games on the same board.  There's not much to the process -- you'll need a set chip though.  How to re-enable the validator is documented here: http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=2078.msg16174#msg16174

Just picked up a Double Double Bonus Poker Machine. It was all well and good, then it said 'low battery.' After a few attempts to get it to work (I mean simply turning it off and on over a two day period) I decided I needed a NEW  BATTERY 'genious.' At this point, I am waiting on the battery but the screen says "CMOS DATA." AHHHH What is that mean. The other thing I noticed is that when I press the little white button the fonts in the menus are all screwed up. I think I might have hurt the machine. What does CMOS DATA mean? Please help?

CMOS data means that the data in the CMOS is screwed up.

The PE+ platform (just like the S+) platform has two cmos chips. One is on the removeable MPU board and the other is on the fixed motherboard in the machine.

As you play the game -- adding/winning/losing credits, this information is written to both CMOS chips. When the machine is turned off, or would fail due to a power outage it is critically important that none of this information is lost. Imagine the pandamomem at a casino if everyone lost their credits ?
The battery on the MPU board is used to preserve this info.

The error you are getting is able to be cleared once you replace the battery. I believe you hold the white test button in for about 3 seconds then turn the jackpot reset key once.
