I just changed the battery on a machine that I am cluless about. Its an S 5500. Now there is an error code (83)
Does anyone know how I clear this code? Do I need a special chip?

You need to do a complete safe ram clear after changing the battery. You will need the safe ram clear eproms (U12 &U15) to match your mains software.

Thanks for respoding so quickly! The U12 and U15 eproms, are they already on the board? If so, what do I do with them?
Im learning as I go. ( as you can see)

U12 and U15 are the mains software on the MPU, you have to remove these and insert the two ram clear chips. See attachment for instructions.

If you have the 92 mains you can do a saferam clear by setting the jumper.  I changed all my 95's and 96's mains to 92000 just because of that.  If you need the mains let me know.
