Hello, I was wondering what other games I could possibly install, Or that would work in my
PE + slant top Double Double bonus poker game? I have seen others with 5 games, and/or reel type games.
It is a fun machine to play, But it would be nice to have a different variety of games to play,
without having to buy many different machines.
Thanks for all the help!   Jim...... waving flag

Jim-

The answer partly depends on whether or not you have a superboard or a non-superboard installed in your machine.  You'll need to power off the machine and take out the removable MPU board to determine what board is currently installed.

If you have a non-superboard, you're limited to some single-game poker games and I believe most of the slot games will work in it.  If you have a superboard, you open up the possibility of additional video poker games, as well as the multi-game video poker games that have five different poker games that the player can select from using the hold/discard buttons when a game isn't in progress.  I should note, if you do not have a superboard you can purchase one and it will install right into your machine with no modification necessary.

Stolistic's site has pictures of the normal (non-superboard) and the superboard so you can see the difference between them:

http://www.stolistic.com/wiki/Players_Edge_Plus

The superboard has an extra data socket which may or may not be in use.  If you're not sure which board you have, snap a picture of it and post it here -- we'll be able to tell you.

Also, the bible has a whole section that contains *most* of the PE+ poker games -- you can see that list here.  The "Multi Poker" are the games that have 5 different poker games in one.

Yes, you will need a SET chip to re-enable the bill validator when you change games.  You can post a WTB request in the classifieds section and/or contact one of the vendors at the top of the screen to purchase one.

Hello again! Well i received my multi poker board today, (Packed great!) Anyhow, I pulled out the one in the machine
and discovered that is also a super board (cool  applause ) I installed the new one and it works great! (The colors are off on the menu Black/Red, but I understand that is because the cap prom X2174. I guess they are hard to find? )  So I need a set chip to re-enable my bill validator. My friend here on the board 89chevyman has a set chip for his IGT Haywire slot machine. Could I use his set chip on my machine?  Thanks everyone on  nlg

Yes, the colors are off because the wrong CAP chip is in there.  What CAP chip is currently in there?  I see a capx2174 working with a different multi-game -- you're saying you need a 1274, or that's what you have now?  Based on the games on your screen, it looks like you got the XM00007P set.  I don't have a list that shows what CAP prom goes with that -- does anyone know for sure?

As far as the set chip, I'm pretty sure you need a chip designed for the PE+.  I remember once long ago someone saying that they had a chip that could be used for both the S+ and PE+, but I don't know if they were for real and I don't know which set chip they were talking about.

Standard PE+ Games.........SET004
Standard PE+ w/SAS 4.0...SET033

Hope this may help.

For what it's worth, a SET 38 will also do the trick for a PE+.

(Picture from Stolistic's blog -- I've used the SET 38 on my machine as well.)

The cap that is installed now says capx 1321. A seller on ebay told me about the 2174 cap prom. He said this is the one to use to have the correct colors with the multi poker. I figured one of you experts would know for sure!!  Thanks!      Tongue Out

If you poke around the site, some one created an adapter for a 27c256 to be used instead of the Caprom.
The caproms are based on a discontinued chip which is hard to obtain and then the special way that this particular chip was written too, most modern burners don't support.

The adapter basically consisted of a Socket that matches the socket on the board, a socket that matched the 27c256 and a piece of breadboard.

The contents of the 1274x could then be burnt onto the 27c256. The latter being a common chip that all eprom burners can read/write.

April from Leeman slot sales (link on home page) also had a number of PE+ kits and could likely provide the required caprom.

I double-checked with a friend -- 2174 is the one he uses with his multi-poker games to get the right colors.  That said, it is very possible that a different cap chip also would do the trick.  He only had one left, though, so he wasn't able to offer it for sale.

Here's the post that Jay was talking about.  It involves a bit of soldering work, but its doable.  If you're not very solder-savvy, you'd likely be better off posting a WTB in the classifieds section for the CAP chip you need -- I'm sure one of our vendors has one of those chips laying around.
