We have a Bally 6000 that was working fine using tokens. We wanted to change to nickels so we put a nickel in the comparitor and filled the hopper with nickels. At first it was working fine. We hit the cash out button and it wouldnt stop cashing out. When we turn the game off and on it seems ready to go but as soon as we insert a coin it starts cashing out again. Any help on troubleshooting would be appreciated. Thanks

Does it show credits on the meter? If so it's going to do whatever it can to pay that out before anything else. Also, since you were running tokens in it I assume they were the .984 tokens used in Pachislo machines. Those work fine in a Quarter hopper. Nickels DO NOT!
I would suspect that the switch/optics that count the coins as they are ejected from the hopper, do not "see" the nickels or the right amount of them.
What you REALLY need is a nickel hopper for a Proslot 6000 series machine.
I am sure that one of our friendly Vendors on here can set you up with one nicely.....

Or if your are handy, you can change out the shelf and pin wheels to nickel and the agitator. I guess it is just better to get a nickel hopper. Are you using it as a piggy bank? I use tokens and am satisfied with them.

In some cases, there is a large coin knife in use, and the change to a small coin knife will lift the coin high enough to break the optic.  There is a high likelyhood that you already have a small coin knife, but it's worthwhile to check.
this pic is a small coin knife, you can see how it has a raised area near the optic pass, the large coin knife is straighter.

Thanks,
Wayne
