:59-Hi everyone! Hope someone has put aside a small part of their brain for knowledge of MPU5 modules. I have a Little Devil machine and everything works fine except that the volume on the bonus game is very loud! The MPU4 has a volume control knob on the module, but the 5 has no such knob. Can anyoneone tell me how to adjust this down before wife finds silent mode with a wirecutters? Thanks in advance for your help bawling

I had the same issue w Little Devil  Barcrest...   It's in the programming... someone on this site actually gave me the answer / directions on Little Devil   volume control.   Here it is:

OK.... finally a subject I can be of some assistance with..... Some of you guys are so advanced that I don't even know what you're even talking about ( that's a compliment  ).   To change the Bonus round volume.......Flick the jackpot reset key until you get a 2-0 ... hit the white reset button several times until you get to 58.   Hit the SPIN REELS button from 1 ( lowest ) to 5 ( highest) volme.  After choosing a volume; hit the white reset button until all displays are blank and then close the door.....  Hope this helps.   Bill

Can't help you from here...    what I posted earlier was an answer I rec'd on this site from:  tollguy316

You can find the same answer...  do a search on this site:  type in:   Little Devil

If you contact him,  maybe he can be of help.   When I was working on my Little Devil, some time back,  I went through the procedure, and was able to reduce the volume.    Be sure you are trying the adjustments with NO credits on machine...sometimes "credits"  on the machine don't allow changes in setting up  parameters.

I was wondering about that. I've got 4000 credits on it though and that's a workout for any hopper. I had it in my head that only money related functions were affected by having credits on, but I've been wrong before frying pan Thanks!

If you have credits on your machine, you usually cannot enter the test pages with your test button.
However, it's possible that MPU5's are a little diiferent from S+'s.
Try getting back into the options settings with your test switch one more time...however, only press the test button until you see a "2" in the coins played window.
When you see that "2", turn the reset key until you see a "5".
Then when you see a "5",hit the spin button...Each time you hit the spin button will change the volume.

I tried what you suggested going to "2" with test button then "5" with reset key and no joy no Looks like I'm gonna be watchin' it rain quarters. I'll try the earlier suggestions and see what I can get after the storm passes. Thanks again to all!

I do not remember for sure as it has been some time since I played witht he MPU5, but could it be possible that the spin button increases the volume setting, but a different button decreases the volume setting? Just a thought??? stir the pot / get cooking maybe try using a different button when you are at that stage??? Maybe it will go down???

If you post the SP and SS chip numbers for your game, maybe one of us may have a PSR that may help in this situation???

That's a good idea and exactly what I was hoping, but no joy there either no I only had 400 credits on my Top Dollar so I tried before and after credits on it and was only able to adjust volume with 0 credits. Sooo, looks like I'm dumping the hopper. If I'm not mistaken, the chips are, well credits window alternately displays 1002 and 7975 winner paid window alternates between 38   0 and  00. SP 1271 sheet indicates that with a 4 in the coins played window these should be GAME/REEL#'s and TYPE/STRIP"s. Who'd a thunk it would be this tough? Scratch Head

You're on the right track...
Hit the cash out and let the hopper do it's job you paid for it to do...lol
Once all the credits are knocked off the meter display,
then and only then when you get back into option setting "58" - will the spin button bulb light up.

I think that what you are going to find even when you get to Option 58 is that no matter what setting (lowest to highest) that you set it to, there will be no appreciable difference in the lowering of the volume in the bonus round as it is supposed to do.  This is an MPU5 anomaly that I've seen over and over.  The only remedy that I have found is to install an in-line rheostat.  Affixed to the back of the coin tray, it is tidy, effective, out of sight and cheaper than marriage counseling!

I was thinking about a rheostat while in the thinking room this morning cuz turning down the volume on my Top Dollar didn't do much and neither did turning down volume control on the MPU4 that it uses. I think that where these barcrest machines use seperate speakers than the s+ side of the machine that the main mpu board has no effect on top box volume control. Good thing my brother in law owns the local radio shack! bust gut laughing Thanks for the info!
