I am having trouble tracing why the relay on my Bally 742a wont pull in for me to release the handle. Has anyone got any tips on why this might be? I have checked the fuses and all are good. Coin mech works fine as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the lockout coil is working on the coin mech, the probable cause is the dashpot switch, a pair of contacts on the main body that close when the arm is fully returned. The dashpot is the yellowish plastic pipe on the RHS that slows the arm return when it's released. The dashpot contact is behind it and should be fully closed when the mech is relaxed. Clean it with a bit of brown paper rubbed between the closed contacts, with a little alcohol or WD40 on the paper.
