I'm picking up this keno machine tomorrow and he said it needs a chip.  The picture he sent shows it as a blue screen.

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/ele/1626981675.html  It is the keno plus in the middle.    Help

Thanks!!

hard to tell from the picture what manufacturer it is.
I think it might be a Bally but could be a VLT.
Any of the vendors on our home page should be able to fix you up.

Wait until you have the machine in your hands. There are various setup screens that you should be able to get to.
If you can't,  it might be the MPU rather than a clear chip etc.

Yes it is a Gamemaker. Open it up and check to make sure it has an MPU board on a tray that slides out above the monitor. Pull that board, if it has one and check the M0, M1, G0 and G1 spots on the board. M0 & M1 are for mains eproms, G0 & G1 are for graphics eproms. Reseat the board fully and turn it on and see if you get any error messages before going to a blue screen. Its a possibility of incompatible or corrupt graphics chips, but I'm just taking a wild guess at this point. If no MPU board, then you're looking at approx. $100 for a board & tray.

Thanks guys..

I got it home and turned it on and it says "Mains Saferam Signature Corrupted".  I put in the set chip and changed dip-switch 7/8 on the top dip-switch bank.
I ran through all the settings and it told me that it was complete and to take out the set chip and turn off the dip-switches.

When i power it back on it says "Mains Saferam Signature Corrupted" again.  Help Help Help Help

Any ideas?

As an aside, did you pay $1000 for a non-working GameMaker, or did you get all three of the machines pictured for $1000?

(...and if you got the PE+ poker machine, I can help you with PE+ stuff and I'm in the Twin Cities)

No, Only payed $200 for the gamemaker w/10 games. The other two are still available.  I felt $200 was a good price. It has a bill val, and working lights, nice glass and clean hopper. It looks like it came from Treasure Island (Red Wing), put in place around 1998.

I purchaced the set/clear chip for $35 today at Worldwide-Gaming, nice folks there.

Congratulations -- you got a steal of a deal.  I would have gladly bought that myself for $200.  Smiley

I'm glad you had a good experience with WWG.  More than one of us on here has not.   no

The motherboard battery is registering .09 volts DC. Could that be my problem?

Where do I find a battery locally?

THANKS!!!

It surely wouldn't help.  I'm not a Bally expert, but I'd suspect that it could be part of the problem.

If you're somewhat handy with the soldering iron, you can find them on eBay or possibly at Batteries Plus.  I suspect that Kevin at Kilroy's would be able to sell you one and install it on your board for a reasonable fee, but you may wish to call and get a quick quote from him before you make the drive there.

Glad to hear you got a good deal. I would change your battery first off. Kevin at Kilroys is a good guy. Also if you have a Batteries Plus location iin your area they have them available, and don't forget to tell them you need the leads on it. You may have to get ahold of a new set of Mains chips though.

Thanks!! Where would I buy the mains chips? I plan on going to the Battery's Plus in the morning. Is the install just pining it in with solder to the board?

Well, you can try Kilroys or WWG since they are local to you or contact one of our vendors at the top portion of the page, Blueridge Slot and Rocky Mountain Slots are both good guys.
