Hi all

I've got a WBA 11-ss bill validator  in an S+ upright that I know very little about. I know that it will need to be updated since its Canadian but I didn't want to go through that trouble until I knew it was at least working. It currently doesn't make any noise at all when you turn on the machine. I checked in the menu to make sure the bill validator was enabled (thanks to this website), I checked the dip switches to make sure they are all set to off (up). I took it apart and cleaned it and made sure it wasn't seized up. I'm getting two red solid lights right beside the dip switches that never change.

Thats about as far as my troubleshooting has gotten on this thing. I'll get some pictures up soon but I wanted to see if anyone had any general troubleshooting things I should be aware of to see what is going on. It never tries to cycle on and it obviously never tries to take in any money at that point either.

Two more pictures....

You can see the two red lights on in the picture of the dip switches. I had originally had all of them in the off position but I started moving them around because I didn't know what else to do.

I'd be happy even with basic troubleshooting ideas. I looked as best I could through the forum and didn't see anything that was the same as the issues I'm having. Could be something simple but I'm clueless on the bill reader stuff. Thanks

You probably don't have a Canadian Head on it (WBA-20-21-22-23) if you have a WBA-10-11-12-13 Head on it then you just need to change the Eprom to US, this is a continuing problem from games that come out of the Ohio area, they change the head as the Canadian head was more valuable and put a US head on but don't change the software, there has to be many threads on here about the same issue from years ago

I knew I would need to change it once I got the bill accepter working. I can't even get the accepter to cycle on or pretend like its going to take a bill. I didn't want to fool with the candian vs US issue until I knew the machine would work. Would having the incorrect software on the BV cause it not to cycle on?

Is the DBV even hooked up to power?  There's a power supply that is specifically for the WBA validator.  Here is a picture of mine.  It hangs to the left of the WBA cage and it plugs into the system via a BIG molex connector and the the WBA is connected to it through 2 small harnesses.  The WBA power supply has the two cables coming out of it.  One goes into the big molex connector into the S+ mainboard, the other one splits up into 3 2-5 pin harnesses that plug into the WBA itself and to the Insert bill light.

A slot collector is like a coin hopper in a machine that never pays out.  they just keep on accumulating assets.

He's getting the 2 red lights next to the dip switches, so there has to be power from somewhere. I'd find someone who's got a current program chip for the board on the underside of the transport. If the machine can't justify a match between the head and transport software it won't cycle for lack of software recognition
