I recently bought a Triple Double Strike machine that was advertised with backlit reels.  When I got it home the backlit reels didn't work.  With the help of a friend from this board he has tried to help me fix it but haven't had any success.  He mentioned to me that he thought he saw a thread that talked about older machines didn't have the proper power supply to support backlit reels.  The tag on the side of the machine says it was mfg in 02/00.  I will attach a pic of the controller card and the backlit reels and hopefully someone can tell me what might be wrong.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Steven

Most of the post 2000 (year) S2000 machines have the power harness you need for that backlit controller, BUT the early machines did not always have them. I ran into the same problem a couple of times and had to get/make a home made power harness to power the backlit reel controller. If there is a harness, it will most likely be tied in a bunch of other wires above the backlit controller. Sometimes it's quite a ways up.

I think there is a thread on NLG somewhere that goes into detail, but not positive.

Blueridge sells it

But it seems uscjunkie has the led type
so not sure if the power setup is different.

It is hard to tell from the controller picture that you posted, but I think that the advice about it needing power plugged into it is correct, and most likely the plug is bundled up somewhere in there. Is the plug in your hand normally plugged into the controller? I think that the power plug will be the 6 pin one in the upper left corner of that controller. Does your machine have the ear type speakers, or the flush style speakers???

His reels are incandescent, not LED. I saw bulb holders in the pictures. There are many different backlit controllers, so that confuses things alot of the times. Some of the controllers are for both LED or incandescent, these are the really good ones to have!

I have gone through that machine from top to bottom and can't find a 6pin plug anywhere.  I have looked everywhere.

Then you will need a custom harness.

Ok help me out here....one side of the plug goes in to the 6 pin controller right?  Where would the other end of the harness plug in to?

It will plug into one of the NETPLEX plugs on the back plane motherboard.

I have attached two pictures. One is with the built in harness. The other is what a custom one looks like...
