Hi All
I'm a newbie to slot machines and have a question that probably been answered before. propeller
I have a Bally E 2212-6 slot machine  with the old 50 volt readers.
I am changing it to the 5 volt readers with the right control board.
The question I have is " Is there any changes to the machine other than changing
the 3 readers and the control card that need to be done? " Scratch Head
I don't want to fry something because I needed to change some wires.

Thanks all for a great forum and all your help

Welcome to NLG proten. wave

That's a nice old Bally. I always liked the design of the Harrah's Bars and the little Genie; I used to play them in Reno in the '80's. I have some "genie" glass, but no machine. bawling

I don't know much about the E series, but hopefully, one of our members will help you out soon.

there are wiring issues at the reader and the control board - not recommended unless you know what you are doing.

At what level are the wiring changes am I looking at?
Will the changes be at the control board or will there be changes in the whole machine?
I have the Bally slot manual for this machine but I haven't really looked at the wiring diagrams
to see the differences between the two systems.

wiring is for the readers and the control board only - if you don't know what your are doing - you will fry your readers and the control board.

Would changing the harness on the reel frame make the necessary
changes for the conversing from 50 volt readers to 5 volt readers?

why would you want to? just fix the readers.   you mean you have a 5v and a 50v mech - with the same molex plugs?

I bought a set of inferred readers from Rodger Knutson  and we thought that they would work
in my machine. Rodger suggested that the harness from the machine that the readers came from
would solve the problem. I decided to replace the readers to inferred due to the fact that the 50 volt
readers and parts were getting hard to find. Now I have a set of inferred readers and controller card
that won't work on my machine and 2 bad 50 volt readers .

Fix the 50V readers. Parts are plenty-full. Contact Barry at the top and he can supply all that you need.
It was thought that the old photo sensors were no longer available.
That's false. Newer and better sensors can be installed.

Well I have completed the change over from lighted readers
to inferred readers.  applause After going over the wiring diagrams for
both setups banghead I found the only difference between them is the
wiring harness on the reel frame the readers and controller
card.

I was going to rebuild the old readers and then sell them.
Any one know what a good price for the readers and control car
would be? Or I may just hang onto them as spares.
