May I ask what is the RS 3411 chip you put back in the machine?  A  Higher % chip, or a different game?

Looks like the same game, a lower percentage.  IGT was smart (!!) and, from what I've seen, used the same program numbers for the S and S+ games, just changing the "RS" to "SS".  As such, RS3441 and SS3441 are for the same game, same percentage, just for different platforms.  Both 3441 and 3663 are for 3CM Wild Cherry.  The 3441 is 90.2%, while the 3663 is 97.4%, per the bible.

Don't know S models, but is it possible it is the same info just burned to a different size chip?? IE: 64K 128K 256K??  Just a thought. Anyone compared the data of the two thru a reader? Scratch Head RS chips are 1-256 and SS chips are 1-64 ??? I would like to see them in a chip reader.

I AM NOT SUGGESTING OR CONDONING CHIP COPYING !!! BEFORE I GET BANNED  Crazy Crazy JUST CURIOUS WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS

Thanks to you all- Rocket, Paul, Coorslight, Slots4home, Knagl for your input and replies. I didn't realize that finding parts for my S machine would be difficult.

I do appreciate all of your time and troubles. I have a lot to learn about slot machines and with people like you I'm sure that I will.

Thanks again

IGT S-MODEL ---THE GAME & THE PERCENTAGE % aka reel chip ARE BURNED INTO ONE CHIP ----WITH THE RS NUMBER CHIP.
THATS WHY THE S-MODEL DOES NOT USE A SP CHIP .

most of the major components of the "S" machine are compatible with the "S+" machine.
Award and belly glass are the same. reel is different. has preset area's for decals and display .
Hopper is interchangeable. Light bar for coin insert and coin accept and denom. lamp early versions were #47 bulbs with push in lamp holders (crumbled after time with heat and use, most held in place with tape after that occurred). later version on S+ without bill acceptor is as the one pictured, also interchangeable. Handle assembly is the same, I believe the coin tray was the same. I believe all the buttons could be replaced with the ones a "S+" uses, even the  flush mounted type as pictured. SST (solid state relay for hopper control) is the same.(red box on the side of the hopper plug)

So to keep your machine running you would need a source for a different board or some where to repair it,  software, to change game types, and coin handling. In the machine pictured it has a mechanical acceptor and a 5 pin ABC optic board, some had a mechanical switch to go along with the mechanical acceptor. Later versions had the CC-16 and a different optic assembly, the early version had a 555 timer on it. Also take note there is no door optics, they used a cherry switch to preform that function, three position, door activated to put game in play mode, upon opening the game would be in the service mode, manually pull the plunger out and the game was in the play mode with the door open for observation.

Jim

well 99.9%  of what was desrcibed earlier in this thread of the S-series is correct I posted -right from the S-IGT SLOT MANUAL   . as far as Jims coments he is correct there are no door optics as you would notice in a S+ model .

there is a white colored door cherry micro swtch . when door is open machine can't be played! unless for test puroses only .
===========================================================================
UNLESS

the part of Jim saying you pulled out the plunger of micro swtch  and you could play the game whie door is open is wrong .

you need to press in the plunger of micro swtch >>IN <<  to activate play mode while door is open TO SIMULATE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED .

the next observation that the reels and or strips he did not mention ?THE STRIPS ARE FULLY USABLE  in a S+ MACHINE SAME SIZE -BUT HAVE THE CUT OUT FOR SLANT TOP REELS I HAVE NOT CONFIRMED THIS -GOING BY MAUA FROM IGT .

ALTHOUGH THE REELS OF A S-MODEL---- DONT HAVE ANY MARKINGS AS IN U/R  OR S/T ON SIDE OF BASKET --

THE REELS THEY USE IN S-MODELS ARE SLANT TOP REELS GOING FROM THE MANUAL .

THE REEL GLASS IS DIFFERENT THAN EARLY S+ MODELS

the coin comparitor in picture is a mechanical .50 cent model -which I replaced since picture with a gutted cc-16 comp
removed the rake etc ------its used as a guide drop only . I DO THIS QUITE OFTEN--USING A OLD BROKEN COIN COM. JUST BEND THE RAKE BACK OR REMOVE AND REMOVE ELECTRONICS ON COMP.  ON ARCADE GAMES -THAT THE COIN GETS READ FROM OPTICS OR VIA MICRO SWTCH WITH LEVER ON IT .

hopper is the same top and belly glass is the same .

I AM SURPRISED NOBODY PICKED UP ON THE FACT THAT THE TOP AWARD GLASS ON MY MACHINE PICTURED IS WRONG .--ITS FOR A DOUB DIAMOND DELUXE !!

LOL when machine is a standard 2-coin doub diamond --USING A RS 3443 90% CHIP -2-COIN DOUB DIAMOND CHIP .

other than that the machine is a documented S-SERIES IGT GAME along with the other 50 PLUS AND 50 PLUS IGT S+ MODELS SITTING IN MY 50 FOOT TRAILER OUTSIDE .

I was just trying to show ImgSr that his concerns for finding parts for his "S" machine were not that concerning since a lot of the parts on a "S+" could be used on the "S" model.

On the "S" models I worked on the cherry switch could be pulled out just like a Bally 5500 model. Perhaps there was a earlier version and a later model. If so I stand corrected!

As for the reels, the reel assembly itself could be used on the upright or slant top. It was the basket assembly, actually one- half of the assembly, the half with the optic flags on it that had to be changed. They can be changed!,they require a 1/2 twist to unlock them from each other. It is this part that usually causes the noise, and by securing them with the tywraps lessons the noise.

Just trying to be helpful , not combative
I'm an old person, my eyes are failing, I still don't see a picture of the award glass .

Jim sorry also no combtive here its all good. The simple problem that seems not so simple any longer. Is the RS files. Nobody has a heck of a lot of them. I do have a entire list of" You know what "cough cough but we can't talk about that on forum etc. I'm just surprised one of the banner members or member does not have a DOCUMENTED NUMBER LIST of the RS eproms to GAME . Etc then I could start the barbacue up and cook him a working dog for his machine. At the begining of thread I have close to 500 Rs chips original no copies plenty of duplicates. But most documentation I have does not cover the 5000 area of the RS chips I have. As we both know not many real HOT games were produced with the RS tag. The search is on still.

Every white Cherry switch on a slot machine that I've seen is wired normally open, and closed when you depress the plunger (close the door), but they have connectors to wire them up as normally closed also. So, the normal position is with the plunger at rest and the opposite position can be either depressed or pulled out.

That's the best way to turn off that blasted light in the S2000 that burns your hand when you reach inside... frying pan  Shifty

lol
I burned myself on that bloody bulb too.
I ended up taking it off and moving it to the right hand-side wall
of the cabinet behind the bill acceptor cash box.
No more burned hands! yes
