Just announced this week, JCM discontinues support for the WBA family of validators from Jan 1st 2011. This basically means you can't buy a new one once stocks are exhausted, and there won't be any more new software when new bills come out. The UBA continues to be supported and fits in place of a WBA in most machines. A lot of casinos will be changing over to the next-generation JCM validator (iVizion ) this year so you can expect several thousand UBAs to show up on the used market.

actually according to the CN they will still be providing WBA software through 12/31/2012 and parts through 12/31/2014 so the casino's won't have to convert too quickly.  i agree that the UBA was a total flop so there probably will be lots of them hitting the aftermarket over the next few years.  i wouldn't want one at home to deal with personally, would rather have a WBA but that's probably because i've been working on and troubleshooting them for 8+ years now.  we have only had 20 UBA's on our floor for about 4 years vs. 300+ WBA's for 10+ years.  i've sat through the sales pitch for the iVision and have had 200+ MEI Cashflows on the floor for 4+ years and i think i would want a cashflow at home if given the option.  downfall to the Cashflow at home is getting parts and support, but they don't have many problems so that wouldn't be too big of a problem imho.  second choice would be the WBA because so much support and parts are readily available.  lightning bolt lightning bolt
