I have a Wild Cherry S-Plus that's been working great for the past couple of years.
Last week, I got an error 12, so I replaced the battery.

Once I turned it back on, I got an error 61, so I pressed the white reset button for 3 seconds, and it turned to 61-1.
I then turned the reset key, but it went to diagnostics, and went back to 61.

Now, I can't even get it to 61-1 anymore. When I turn it on, it displays 61. Pressing the white reset button for 3 secs turns the display off, and then it shows up as 61 again.

I'm not quite sure what to do next. I have ordered a clear chip in the meantime, but want to make sure there's nothing else I can try first.

I think you will be needing that clear chip.  Seems that turning the jackpot reset key will sometimes throw you in the dreaded 61 loop.  Common problem, cured with a clear.  Be sure to have a set chip, if you wish to re enable a bill acceptor.

Nothing much else you can do. There are a couple of workarounds that some have had luck with (but not consistently), but if you have a Clear chip coming, just hang out and wait for it. Hopefully, they will ship it somewhat quickly and you will have your game back up for Thanksgiving.  yes   Do you have any other machines? If so, you could try swapping the SP chips if they are significantly different in number.

Great, thanks for the confirmation. I just wanted to make sure the clear chip was the next logical step.

I'll be patiently awaiting it's arrival! Smiley

Mine turned out to be door optics.  It won't clear the 61 if the optical eyes think the door is still open.  It drove me nuts for weeks.  Tried clear chips, tried replacement chips, couldn't figure it out.  Finally tried optics out of desperation, it took right off.  9 times out of 10 the clear chip will do it, so certainly try that first... but if that fails... double check your door optics so you don't think you're losing your mind like I did, lol.

I just received my clear chip, and it worked like a charm. I'm glad my machine will be working for my holiday party!

Thanks for your help!

Congrats on getting it working!  Don't use the clear chip liberally -- there are only a few specific times to use it (this was one of them).  If you run into a problem in the future, don't assume that the clear chip is the solution to all of your issues.  It's really more of a last-resort type of thing.
