Hey guys, got a professinal question for you lot now!!

I have been tasked to look at methods of retrofitting old machines with Ticket Validators and Printers. Just wondering if anyone has seen old machines with external printers and validators? I have seen loyalty systems in boxes mounted to the side of older slot machines, but not sure if any companies have ever done it for a TITO system.

Only other option is to replace about 4500 slots machines with newer cabinets, which might get a tad expensive (not to mention annoying the old clients that love their particular old game)

Hello Andy,
I would like to help as much as possible.  Can you provide game types and models?
You will be converting 4500 slots?  Sounds like one heck of a task!

Will your client consider a smart card bases system instead - Will be considerably cheaper and less hassle than trying to integrate Bv's and Tito into legacy machines

lateball, lots of different games and models. Mainly all ARI, IGT, Konami and AGT. Some date back to the 80's. Not all need to be converted, as some machines support TITO. Its a jurisdictional protocol, so next best option would be to convert the games to SAS if its possible to convince the regulator to allow it. Easiest solution would be to mount a printer and ticket validator to the side of the machine, as it would alleviate all regulator issues.

tztech, smart card is out. We already have a cashless solution but they are not interested in it. Odd, cause it would get around a lot of issues and its already approved in this jurisdiction. TITO is not actually allowed, but there is a push to make it happen.

Forgot to add, there is also a patent around retrofitting machines for TITO, thanks to aristocrat. This might make things a bit harder.

I really dont get why anybody wants to go Tito when there is smartcard.
How about this - Your system hadware communicates directly with your ticket printer and bv and interfaces with the machine via local protocol/SAS. This may also be a loophole for the aristocrt issue as you are not technically connecting TITO to the machine.
