Hello all!
Before anything I would like to thank you guys for having all this great info on here. Been lurking for ages and always enjoy gathering info from these forums.

I have a NXT2 board, it has Linux kernal 2.6 if this is of any help. Right now it has a LCD screen and I have come across a 5 wire touchscreen that goes over it. The screen came with a controller that has a RS232 connector.

I downloaded the drivers from here http://home.eeti.com.tw/web20/eg/RES_T.html

The screen works well on a PC. Just don't know where to start on this  Scratch Head
Any help would be great and if more info is needed please ask.

I'm also attaching the schematics of the screen. Thanks!

There's not much you can do with the NXT OS to make it accept just any other touchscreen.  There's a security hash that the system must validate in order for the slot to boot.  If there's any modifications to the OS, the validation will fail and the slot won't start.  Exactyly what are you trying to accomoplish, all WMS Video slot screens already have the 3M touchscreen interface?  Did yours go bad or something?  All these slots us capacitative touchscreens made by 3M with a specific firmware.  If the firmware is not the right one, it will not work on a slot.

Note that the controller is farily generic so any 3M controller with recent firmware should work fine, I have been successful with many different monitors that had various 3M controllers for our test bench.  When installed in a game we go with the ceronix 4082 19" or the WMS Kristal 19" LCD, Wells should work too but they are rarely seen these days, not sure what happened to that company...

However you need the backplane too and off that there is a screen connector labled J4 and you only need 3 wires (TX / RX and GND)   Pin 2 - 3 - 5 (5 is GND) on the RS232 going to PIN 2 - 1  - 4 (4 is GND) on the 10 PIN molex, reverse 1 and 2 if it does not work as your controller could be different on the TX / RX (should not be)

Hope that helps the poster

Thanks for the responses guys. I will definitely have to go with a 3M controller then?

I know it needs to be a Surface Capacitive Touch Controller Technology and not the Resistive that you gave the link to.

So give it a try anyway and see what comes of it
